Philosophically why do people want to be extreme collectors? I really dont know. Some people are different I guess. I am a collector, but never will I throw away hundreds of dollars for one figure. However, others may rather pay more money to plastic dolls than caring about feeding themselfs People are just different I guess, everyone is passionate for different things, and everyone reacts to stuff differently (hope I spelled that right )

Sure, they are technically be made of plastic, and some misinformed people do refer to them as "dolls." But to me, they are figures. Collectibles. And if some people want to spend more money on their collectibles/collection, then so be it, that's their business.

Philosophically why do people want to be extreme collectors? Some people like large collections, others like small collections. Some people like chocolate ice cream, others like vanilla, others don't like either, and some don't like ice cream at all. Why is the color of the sky blue and not green? What separates extreme from moderate? Let's say you spend lots of money on modding your car. To me, that's pointless and a waste of money. To you, it's not. People are different.

Not to mention the notion of spending hundreds of dollars on figures instead of feeding yourself is ridiculous, even if it is tongue in cheek. If your income is only enough to feed yourself, then hopefully you are smart enough to not pay this much for anything other than what you need. When it comes down to purchasing something there aren't that many factors to consider, there is a) Do I want it? and b) can I afford it? And if the lines between these are blurred somewhat then I may weigh up whether or not I want something enough to pay for it. If I want it enough, I buy it, if I don't then I hold off until I have more money. I consider myself very good at managing my money. I'm a student, who works one day a week and a bit more during Uni breaks. I know a lot of people in my position who have pretty much lived from paycheck to paycheck. I have been fortunate enough to be able to live a students life and have money left over to spend on things I want and enjoy. If I spend a bit more than usual any given week I just make sure I do the work and save to earn it back, it's simple. Others obviously may not be this fortunate, totally understandable. The bottom line is, paying the money I have for my collection has not negatively impacted my life in any way.

If anything, collecting has positively impacted me. It's fun collecting, hunting down figures, and receiving a new package at your doorstep. If it weren't for collecting, we wouldn't be a part of this great online community too. Some of us invest more in our collection than others. Still don't understand why? Oh well, don't really care

Philosophically why do people want to be extreme collectors? Really in the end it all comes down to one thing. Passion. If you are passionate about a certain thing, you're going to want to explore it in it's entirety. For someone who likes collecting figures, that would likely be collecting all of them and completing their set. By the same accord, why do people enjoy "Achievements" or "Trophies" in their games. They are meaningless, give you nothing back, other than a little check mark that you completed them. However there are entire communities of people that compare their scores based on these check marks.

I like the clean white parts way more than the shaded ones we got on the first version. I wish they went the extra mile and sculpted the lines on the toes but it's still pretty cool looking like this. I guess it's time to get rid of the two Datong bodies I'm using with the heads of Saiyan Saga Vegeta and SSJ Trunks.

By the way i wasn't attacking people if it sounded like it I love collecting as well and i'm quite honestly not too sure why i do it haha. I feel like having an accurate representation of Goku, Vegeta etc is like having an actual goku lol but sometimes I question it. DBZ has influenced my life like crazy but more in Martial Arts Tricking than collecting. The way Saiyans pushed themselves to their limits motivated me like crazy. Plus Tricking has very similar moves to DBZ kicks if you guys want to check it out haha Don't think anyone took it as an attack, I know I didn't. You asked a question and we provided our answers. A lot of the time people say they don't understand why someone would spend a certain amount of money on these figures, I know it isn't a personal thing but like to help them see it from a different perspective and help them understand why someone may go that extra mile to get the figure they want. Some people are willing to spend the money and some people aren't, that's the long and short of it. I don't judge people who aren't willing to spend their hard earned on figures, just like I don't expect to be judged for doing so. Anyway back to the figure! Hadn't considered the crossed arms thing. With the slightly different coloring, the other crossed arms likely won't match exactly. Also despite this figure's announcement I still went ahead and got two Datong SS Vegeta's. One for the Trunks head and one to display with a Normal Vegeta head, I still think I'd rather stick with bootlegs for these head swaps so legit figures can be displayed as intended. OCD I guess, haha.

I consider them action figures, plastic dolls is just another word for it, to me atleast. If you don't think so, and you think these should be called collectibles, more power to you buddy. Why do I collect them...? Well, I don't know what that has to do with anything really, but I collect them because I want to and they're cool

Yeah you are right, but I was looking at the other way, for people who aren't as lucky as you and me, but still wants to spend over hundreds of dollars on scalper priced figures. And what you said about holding off money untill you can afford it doesn't really matter with Sh figuarts, you have to buy them right away if you wanna pay retail price, waiting is only gunna do the opposite. PS: sry for double post, I don't know how to reply to two comments at once.

Extremely grateful for tamashi for "re-releasing" an affordable vegeta. with that being said heres the only negative things: 1) only 2 faces? vegeta is one cocky MF, he needs a smirking face, a screaming face, and a regular clenching teeth face without looking to the side. 2) figuarts are supposed to be really detailed but they missed the lines on his boots. darker tones on his muscles would have made it look cool and make his muscles stand out 3) lack of accessories: no special effects? i dont think the aura comes with it, he really needs a final flash or a big bang attack. No crossed arms? vegetas trademark pose often has him crossing his arms. he really needs one. scouter vegeta's crossed arms might fit but the shading would be different. i always hated how some figuarts doesnt come with a stand. i really dont mind paying an extra 3-4 bucks just so every figuarts should come with a stand. this is why broly is my fav figuarts of all time (although awakened goku might change that), its has all of these.
with that being said, its still too early, some of these could be fixed. and if not those are easy customs. still would buy like 4 of them
