I'm starting to see US retailers advertising him as in stock. Looks like he's finally getting here.

And that would be fine, if he had exhibited any personality beyond "I'm a meathead sidekick." Don't get me wrong, I never disliked him... he served the story purpose he was created to, demolishing the Z-fighters and being a punching bag for Goku. He just... didn't have much longevity beyond that. I'll put it this way: There have been what if scenarios where Raditz has lost his memory and has fought with Goku and the others, or has fought with Bardock. Those what ifs happen because there is untapped potential for stories with the character, because of his familial connections. Nappa just... doesn't. He has no background beyond "I'm a saiyan elite warrior," no connection to anyone except Vegeta (who thinks so little of Nappa that Vegeta murders him), and aside from a few flashbacks, we don't ever see him again. Yes, we don't ever see Nappa again, nor do we see many other characters reappear in Dragon Ball, such as Launch, Raditz, or King Piccolo; that doesn't mean there are not unexplored stories or no background regarding Nappa or other characters. One could make a story about fleshing out His and Vegeta's relationship, or how Nappa was extremely loyal to Vegeta, and how he watched Vegeta grow in to a cold, callous, murderer, or how he even became Vegeta's guard, or dog, per se. I guess we just disagree.

tsarquise I'd love to see a manga or ova exploring what life was like for Vegeta, Raditz and Nappa after the saiyans were wiped out. Obviously if that were to ever happen Vegeta and Frieza would be the main focus of the story though. But at least Nappa and Raditz would get screen time and some character development. I know they were basically meant to be one shot villains who were introduced solely to drive the plot forward but there's a lot of untapped potential in them. Sadly Dragon Ball was made before the manga trope of every one shot villain having a flash back that makes you feel sorry for them before they're taken out by one of the main characters started.

I'm kind of making a comic like that.

tsarquise That sounds awesome, I've thought about making fan comics/manga but I'm too lazy. I love drawing DBZ fan art though. I mainly draw poster designs from my favorite story arcs.

My Nappa arrived today. I remember getting the Irwin Nappa almost 20 years ago. I remember being unable to put it down, as up until then, all we had were the static Super Battle Collection figures, and Nappa both looked and moved so much better.
All these years later, and I get the same feeling from this figure. I got Scouter Vegeta, PC Perfect Cell and Battle Damaged Gohan in this order as well, and while they're all cool, I can't stop picking up Nappa and playing around with him. Now that I have him in hand I really like the black and brown on him, especially with the matte finish they gave him. And while I'd love an anime accurate version, I'd actually be totally fine with this one.
All in all this is one of my favorite action figures ever.
