My relationship with SHF has been a strange one.
Whilst I had been interested in the show since I first caught episodes back in 2000, I didn't actually get to watch it from start to finish until I acquired the orange bricks (and later the Dragon Boxes) back in 2007-2009.
I followed Kai until it's conclusion, but as far as the figures went, I have to say I wasn't overly impressed by any of the original releases. 2009's Piccolo to 2012's Cell just came off as "children's toys" instead of "adult collectables" and whilst the 2013 scouter Vegeta and Frieza were both a considerable step up it wasn't actually until Super was announced in 2015 that I decided to take the plunge.
Android 17 & 18 were 2 of my first purchases and are probably still 2 of the best releases in my opinion, but the real game changers in 2015 were:
1) Premium Color Edition - Tamashii had found a loophole to re-release previous exclusives. 2) First 2.0 - Tamashii had opened the doors to making exciting new sculpts with improved articulation and battle damage. 3) Airing of Super - Having a weekly anime helped to keep my collecting relevant.
Now onto the sad part:
1) Straight after I got PCE Vegeta, they announced the 2.0. That was annoying, and 3 years later, Trunks and Cell have been the only others. 2) We've had a load more 2.0s, however sadly, Gohan has been the only other one to feature battle damage. 3) Super ended, potentially resulting in a slow down of releases that we had prior to 2015.
I think the run we had last year (Vegeta, Nappa, Yamcha & Tien) was probably the highlight of the line so far! 2018 seems very bitty in comparison, but Majin Vegeta & Buu are very welcome additions.
I'm excited to see where we go from here, I just don't want too many DB/Super/Movie/Game related releases as I like to stick to the DBZ canon.

Keeping this separate as it's pretty long...I wanted to expand on what I said about interchangeable parts. I think the 2015 Frieza Saga Goku was a great release because of the additional face plate that was added and the fact the skin tone was pretty close to the original 2014 Goku. If it were up to me, I would design further releases to make them closely compatible. This is exactly what I want to see... The 2018 Goku with potentially unrestricted arms, possibly a perfected 2.0 Goku. The follow up, hopefully a regular release and not an exclusive...a Dragon Ball Super variant colored to match Goku's appearance in the anime, but it has the exact same skin tone as the 2018 version and new faces that can also be used on the 2018 version. Technically a new figure but also an expansion pack for the old one. This can also be done with a potential 2.0 SS Goku, but for the second release, they could create a damaged SS2 Goku. Same deal, identical skin tone and faces that work with the SS Goku. Instead of creating new parts to prevent part swapping, they should capitalize and really make something cool. That SSj1 Goku should feature a smiling face and a smirking face. Also a neutral face, off to the side like the OG SSj(2) Gohan.

thekrillmaster is right. We need a smiling SS Goku, like we were supposed to get with the OG, but didn't. It's about time that Tamashii righted this wrong once and for all! Who's with me?!

since tamashi likes making sdcc Goku exclusives, wonder what the odds are of them releasing a perfect goku version like the sbc line...really want a super saiyan 2 goku to go with majin vegeta I get that they wanna sell saiyans, but geez at least let it come with base heads or alternative heads (like trunks and gohan)

I am saddened by these actions figures on average costing $50 or more upon their release more than anything else, and particularly when reading in this topic that the original Future Trunks went on sale originally for $36 dollars. Wow. I had no idea.
I took a break from collecting SH Figuarts for about a year and a half up until late last month, and now action figures like Adult Gohan and Vegito have risen in price from being about $40 to near $100 (both are $90 something right now) on Amazon. The inflation on these toys is no joke, and even with Adult Gohan and Vegito who I assumed were not in high demand because of their steadily low prices for an extended period of time. Golden Frieza has gone up a little over $20 since a year ago as well.
So, even if one pre-orders everything, they will still have to pay on average about $50 for just one figure. I wish I could have a larger collection than what I have now, but this stuff is so expensive that I will have to pass on a couple of figures out now and hope that they don't go up in price (unlike Vegito and Adult Gohan). I have to prioritize which characters I want to buy the most, and take a break for a little while instead of breaking the bank on this collection. At least I bought SDCC Broly when he was just a little over $100 because as I expected, he went up significantly in price; from triple to quadruple the value of what I paid from what I've seen on Amazon. I feel like it was a good collector's investment due to that lol.
I also wish they would release more popular characters before a few of the other figures they went with. Hit should have already been announced, and a Piccolo 2.0 with anime colors (especially because of SDCC Piccolo's sky high price over the past couple of years). Those are my top 2 most desired figures in this line, and I would much rather have them than more Gokus, Bulma, Master Roshi, and Fat Buu. Yeah, maybe some people disagree with me on the character selection; that is fine. We all have some characters we like more than others.
