Such insights! well, anyway it dosen't really have anything to do to '5 inch scaled figuers'. anyone that actually give 2 facks for the collectible market, can understand why it is great for the franchise to start roots in a foreign company that we haven't seen merch from yet. even if you are not particularly interested in their style of production, it is still great for the collectible market to take seeds in a new production.
I would love to see a line covering characters that are missing from the HG scale, which actually many collectors from Spain, France, and Japan are into. but unlike other persons, I can acknowledge the fact that the world doesn't revolve around my wishes and desires, and that productions are taking place and it doesn't really have anything to do with anything else.

Exactly. The more new Dragon Ball merchandise that is released the better.

Pop figures are like the american version of Nendoroid, figures that get popular because they are cutesy, well i havent seen a nendo DBZ figure yet (although, some nendos look cool so i MIGHT be tempted) I can acknowledge the fact that the world doesn't revolve around my wishes and desires, and that productions are taking place and it doesn't really have anything to do with anything else. this IS the internets, people state their opinions be they selfish or not (or ignored/hated on because of them)

Check out this item I found on eBay: pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390748438868Finally found this again on eBay. It's been getting relisted for more or less a year now. I'm afraid that's what the upcoming ones will be like because I know I personally don't want them.

Ah, man. You mean Hasbro's gonna do Dragon Ball Mighty Muggs as well? Now those most certainly will suck.

Looks like the same sort of thing to me. Funko Pop! Mighty Mugg custom Might as well be a bobble head, because I wouldn't buy one of those either. Just saying my truthful opinion. Doesn't mean that if I wouldn't buy it nobody would.

Doesn't mean that if I wouldn't buy it nobody would. If you say so. The Pop! figures always feature simplistic face designs with black circles for eyes and usually no mouth. The Mighty Muggs usually try to cram the most realistic detail they can onto an un-sculpted surface. The Pop! figures also feature completely new sculpts for every figure, while the Mighty Muggs all use a generic blank body that is repainted. The Pop! figures borrow more from the typical Japanese-esque chibi design, whereas Mighty Muggs are more like bloated Lego Minifigures. That being said, I can get you people might not wnat either. It's just something you like or you don't.

I'm glad you feel this way. The Funko Pop! has to be one of the most popular toy/collectible lines out there, period. And it appeals to a huge audience. I see these in Hot Topic, HMV, Toys R Us, my local comic book stores, anime stores, and my import toy store. I've only twice ever found Dragonball toys for sale. Whereas I see the Pop! figures just about everywhere I go. Even if you don't like the line, it's some of the best publicity you can get for a series like Dragonball right now. As much as I'd love to see more 5 inch scaled figures released, the fact is, they really don't sell well enough anymore to justify it. All this line will do is help change that, and it is in no way a hinderance to more Dragonball figures being produced.

Finally!
I've been waiting for news like this for a while. Funko Pop doesn't seem to do anime figures, and I'm a fan of their stuff. I have a couple of their Walking Dead figures.

I'm actually really perplexed on what is your point in quoting my post from the previous page to here, since it was a replay that was made to other posts in discussion, The Pop line by Funko is not "one of the most popular collectible lines out there", yes it is a very extensive production, having licensing to recent films and other television shows and video games, and they are very popular in recent years. As in 'start roots in a foreign company' - that oppose to the Japanese market, the Bandai Namco umbrella and its subsidiaries; where 95% of the Dragon Ball merchandise is being produced under. You might have a hard time believing this, but even here, the Pop figures are very common in comic stores. "5 inch scaled figures really don't sell well enough anymore to justify it." As regard to Jakks, AB, Bandai Ultimate Collection, SBC, it's not that they are not selling well, they are out of print, and the prouction of those figuers has stopped. like any other lines. "All this line will do is help change that" , "it's some of the best publicity you can get for a series like Dragonball right now" , I guess that what I meant in "it is still great for the collectible market to take seeds in a new production" etc, i'm sorry if my way of wording seem odd to you. though I don't really like to get ahead throwing facts from air... I still think that it's great that the American market is getting new production of merchandise after being practically silent for years. and like I said, if you care about the franchise, or about the collectible market, than you should appreciate this production taking place by Funko. especially to the fact that it's foreign and out of Japan. I also really like how you analyze every tiny aspect of the Pop figures..... or you can compare them to DWC, Mini Big Heads, or whatever. It really is quite similar in style, if you want to reference to a well-known Japanese merch. Anyway, i'd love to hear any news and updates about this, I'm very hopeful for a diverse line-up of characters. The reality will probably be the same old mashup of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo.

Anyway, i'd love to hear any news and updates about this, I'm very hopeful for a diverse line-up of characters. The reality will probably be the same old mashup of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo. I read the discussion that took place on the previous page, I understand what you're saying. I was not trying to make a point, I was trying to show support for yours. I still believe that the Funko Pop line is currently one of the most popular collectible lines at the moment, at least on the North American market. while it may not be the most popular among hardcore toy collectors or the most long-lasting series on shelves. I see them for sale almost everywhere I go and far more than I see ANY other line, save for the Lego Minifigures. I am well aware that the majority of its licences are of more recent franchises, but I believe the familiarity established with other licences only helps to sell lesser known ones. Of course, 5 inch figures aren't selling since they are out of print. But I'm pretty sure that the reason they're out of print is because they simply weren't selling well enough to warrant making them anymore. Toy companies generally won't kill a line that's doing well. I don't see your point in reinstating that you appreciate this Funko production taking place. I was trying to agree with that. It HAS been years since we saw new Dragonball figures on the American market, and collectibles are one of the best ways to promote animes to new audiences. So I do believe that new collectibles in a popular toy line is one of the best ways that Dragonball can get publicity right now. And yes, I do analyze every aspect of the Pop figures. This is a message board about figure. Of course I'm going to be analytical about them. I definitively agree they're similar in style to DWC and Mini Big Heads. I still do not think that the Mighty Muggs are.
