yup, guess its from early to late 90's, its kind of old one... well thing is its very hard to get info on these kind of garage kit, since they're don't have the exact name, so people just name it based on its character or else.... haha

I think that Goku is one sold by a seller on yj named Tomu who would sell copies of sculptures created for display at toy shows and other events. Edison on here would remember, as he is the one who told me.

I was wrong about that resin. Tomu's I have pictures of is different. This was saved April 2004 This was saved February 2003 Here are some of his other kid Goku garage kits he would sell. Again, I don't remember clearly what the story was. I think edison knew.

You have very nice collection, especially all the Japanese garage kit.
I have both the one sitting in the cloud (no cloud because its separate auction i lost) and the large one with the stick. He also mistakenly send me the base of the last picture (shoes and bo).
Ive seen most of the figures / kits posted. Ill confirm everything when i check my harddrive when im back home. I knew i had pics of most of them.

Can you explain the source of the kits to everyone that Tomu would sell? I believe you are the one who told me the story years ago. I think you said they were used at events or something.

Apology to d74wa03 if the below info is offtopic to his collection thread, but his collection is the first time ive seen people collecting old kits.
Most of the old kits are from a Japanese event called Wonder Festival, below is wiki description
"The Tokyo Wonder Festival (ワンダーフェスティバル?), or Wonfes (ワンフェス wanfesu?) for short, is a bi-annual event held in the Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. The main focus is to display and sell "garage kits", which are sculptures that usually replicate anime and game characters, but also popular mecha/sci-fi characters and creatures. These models are extremely detail oriented, and many of these sculptures appear in very small quantities due to the amateur nature of their reproduction. Unusually skilled artisans are promoted specifically during the "wonder showcase" (WSC), in which their works are given special attention and limited quantities of their masterpieces are sold for high prices to avid collectors.[1] It also showcases future releases by major toy companies"
Most of the kits are Gundam mecha and female anime characters that were extremely beautiful and well made and can still put current 3d print figure to shame. Sadly most of the dragonball sculpture during these days are made poorly and simple. Only a certain guy name Tomu was making decent kits, I think he usually sold 20 per event. Only a handful was limited to 5 - 10 piece. Since the introduction of yahoo japan auctions. He was making better kits and selling directly on auction.
I use to be a great fan of tomu and bought a lot of his small sculpture and a couple of large one ($150 for ssj goku and $300 for a ssj3 goku). When one his most prized sculpture goku bust (limited to 5) was being bootlegged in china. I Know I had to stop spending and move to collecting cels.
Tomu made a huge collection of dragonball statues that I never seen bootlegged or copied outside japan. But with the current influx of banpestro Bandai and Chinese made statues. I don't think people will be interest in garage kits much.
I only saved most garage kits images (japan and hk) from 2001 to 2007. So I might have missed a lot of figures to recent.

It would make sense that some of the GK makers would sell their stuff at the Winter Wonder Festival where the toy companies show exhibitions of their upcoming merchandise, but it's not a situation like bran said where a it's "copies of sculptures created for display at toy shows and other events". There was the Shingeki no Kyojin massive Colossal Titan head statue in the 2013 Wonfes which was created just for marketing and exhibition, so this is this type of thing.
How back those GK date to? I guess This doesn't really trace the origin of all the Japanese kits as well I imagine.

I'll eventually move this stuff into a topic of its own, so my apologies d74.
Edison probably has a better image collection than I do. I only looked at yj a lot from '03 to '04. I believe Tomu's amazing Vegeta exhausted sculpture has been bootlegged and reproduced. That was the most incredible one of all in my opinion, followed by the ss3 Goku.
