I use the ikea detolf glass cabinet. It looks nice and is not pricy but if you decide to collect large figures, it will not be very space efficient (that's what I'm suffering from now).

I recommend a cabinet with glass on the front and a mirror in back. The mirror in the back makes a huge difference.

I have 3 display cabinets with glass on the front and on the sides. Wood in the background, in black and light brown. Mirror in the background, I will never buy . More clean, see my figures double and see myself !

I use Detolfs with a Kallax unit on the bottom as a base. Something like this is a pretty common set up. Pretty cheap for all glass displays and has good space for most figures. Mine are completely full and I've always wanted to completely seal the glass since there is a small gap in the Detolfs which can allow dust to come in. Example: I'm thinking there should be a way to use the Detolf glass and the Kallax to custom make a simple sealed display. One of these days I'm gonna see what I can do since a real glass display is hundreds of dollars.

I've had some of my Marvel Legends inside a Detolf. I'm really bad at remembering to dust, but the inside of it and the figures are still pretty clean even after like 6 months.
Also, Ikea does offer different doors for a lot of the cabinets/bookshelves they have even if it normally doesn't have one on it. I've seen some people make some nice displays by going that route adding a set of doors with windows. I do know they specifically have glass doors for the Kallax.

@m5jagdragonpanzeriv I never cleaned my detolf and I can safely say that the amount of dust it gathered over the past year is very little.

roshisurprise thanks for the replay it's good to know. Still things like that post and this www.abload.de/img/4dlytl.jpg (happend to a couple of friends of mine as well) having me considering jonmichael yeah adding glass doors to the billy or other cabinet can form a really nice display I seen. But do you know if they have something with a bit more depth and width? The Billy is 27cm deep and some of my piece like the Frieza Force sets spaceships won't be able to fit in there.

Woah! I've never had my shelves fall out like that, and I have 2 different styles of their glass cases. Did it get bumpedcreally hard, or have a hard impact near it?
I don't know about if they have different depths or widths available. I'm kinda thinking not, but don't go by that. I would just check their website and if you have a store nearby just go in and ask.

It happened because he had the rods set to outside, when they have to be in the inside. The cabinet was not properly mounted looking to that pic. If not, that would not have happened. It's very curious that the glasses didn't even break, though.
