I've seen several sellers on eBay selling effect pieces for figuarts (ex Piccolo's special beam cannon). Obviously these things are custom made, but who makes them and where can I get some?

I'm not too sure but I think the Datong versions of the Saint Seiya stands are pretty good. |

What material are these effects made from? Is it acrylic or a silicone plastic? I have an idea of how to make them but want to experiment a bit first. I love them btw but I think I'm going to try an opaque white one with a clear blue flame/energy effect as a coating.
