We're kind of fortunate that we have LOTS of variety when it comes to Dragon Ball lines.
Given the popularity of figurines and/or statues in the Japanese market and abroad, what is your FAVORITE Dragon Ball "Static" line(s) and why?
Figuarts ZERO? SCultures? DOD? WCF? Masterstars Piece? Share your favorites and collection stories, like "why do you collect MSPs, etc.?"
The figurines have to be 'static' - lacking in movement/change/action, etc. So think of figurines or statue-like lines ONLY. Limited poseability (like DOD's ability to move the head) is OK, as long as the majority of the figurine does not have any poseability.

Definitely The Figure Collection. Great variety of characters (F**king Chaozu and Yamcha!! ), amazing sculpt, the paint job and shading is amazing as well, plus, They're not releasing only new Super characters, but they releasing the good ol' Z fighters as well.

I agree with gotenksIn terms of a Static and Diverse line, The Figure Collection is showing the most promise. If they start branching off into the villians, I think it will be the best Static line ever. The best part of the line is the fact that all of the Characters actually look like their Anime counterparts, the facial detail has always been the ost important thing to me in terms of making a character look as representative of the source material, and this line has done a very good job with i'd say 95% of their releases! Looking forward to see this line grow!

I like SCultures (up until Scultures 4), because honestly, in what other line are you going to find an Ox King and Arale?
However, the offsetting thing is the overall lack of character selection for the past two years as well as the wildly varying scale.
But I don't care. Ox King from Series 2 is still one of the best static figures I've ever had the liberty of purchasing.

I like SCultures as well as my "Overall favorite". Though you are right, Ketchup, that they've stuck a little bit more to the "favorites" in recent line-up's and the scale issues as well. However, I've recognized that SCultures isn't necessarily "meant" to scale with itself or other DB lines, you basically have SCultures and SCultures BIG with slightly larger figurines. The dynamic poses, the sculpts and the paints are top-notch. Though the paints have gone down a bit, for the price point of these figures (around $15-$30 when first released in the Western market), you get a NICE piece. I see why past SCulture figures are raising in price.
Runner's-up in my book are Figuarts ZERO, Fighting Combination DXF, and Masterstars Piece. I'd throw in DOD as well, but I don't think they have the cloth outfits (too bulk on some characters, like Trunks) and sculpts down right just yet in comparison to some of the other lines and their price point is WAY too high for what you get.
Also, they're not so much "figurine" but little keychains, but I personally love the UDM Burst and UDM The Best Series Gashopons.

I don't collect them, but I actually really like the X-Plus Gigantic Series figures. If I was going to collect an unarticulated line of DBZ figures, it would probably be those.

WCF for me.
DBZ is such a long and storied anime. So many different characters, all of whom add something else worth loving about the story, and so many different versions and memorable moments for each character. The World Collectable Figures line recreates so many iconic moments and loveable, lesser-represented characters, and seeing them all together, with the box art to go along, offers a really unique opportunity for any collector. I hope they make WCF for years and years to come. There can never be enough!

For me as far as official figures go
1. Master Stars Piece 2. Scultures 3. HQDX 4. Ichiban Kuji 5. Figuarts Zero 6. The figure Collection (Chouzoushu) 7. D.O.D
But the ultimate Dragon Ball statues in my opinion are unofficial resin statues. Djfungshing, VKH etc.

I don't collect statues, but if I would, it would definitively be The Figure Collection. Mostly because of the cost benefit, anime style and the variety.

It's hard to say because there is good figures from several lines. But it must be the figures that have the perfect size for my taste -not too big & not too small-, in no particular order: HQDX, sCultures, Ichiban Kuji, DOD HQDX is done since years ago and Ichiban Kuji latest products are not as good as they used to be. Nowadays it would be a battle btwn sCultures (sculpt, variety of poses, character likeness, size in general) and DOD (sculpt, character variety, character likeness, painting, size) nowadays.

To pay around 15$ for such a small figure it's waaay to much (not counting the older ones which can get even more expansive).

They're kind of an all-or-nothing collectable line. Either you dive in completely, accept the prices and do what you have to to collect as many as you can, or you pass completely. Any one figure, unless you personally win it in a crane game or happen to have a favorite character or pose, isn't worth buying because it doesn't stand out on its own. As a whole though, especially with the boxes displayed as part of the collection, they're really impressive and stand out as their own unique sect of DBZ collecting. That option is certainly not cheap though, and I doubt I could afford it if I cared to collect multiple other lines. Thankfully, WCF satisfy my craving.

I've just started collecting again recently, so I missed out on everything from 2007-2015. In the old days, before the Irwin/Jakks era in the USA, I was all about the Super Battle Collection. I completed that set (Loose, mint display pieces) and had them all on a shelf for many years before I finally packed them all away for space. Those were mostly static, aside from being able to move the arms up and down at the shoulders.
Now that I started collecting again, I am all about Banpresto. My "new" collection began with "The Figure Collection". I have all of those now, and am sincerely hoping they continue the line with more Z and Super characters. I really like this line a lot, and believe it is my favorite.
I have now started getting some of the Master Stars Piece collection, but I'm a little late to the game with these guys, as many of them have been around for a while. I am not planning to try to complete a collection of them, as there are already too many I missed getting at a reasonable cost. So I have decided to collect the Super Saiyans from the series only. I currently have the re-issue Super Goku (King of Coloring I think it is called) and I recently purchased Super Saiyan 2 Gohan (First version, not the bloodied battle damaged re-issue). I am trying to get Super Vegeta now, but he is already climbing in price, so he may be the only older one I purchase. I don't care about Vegito (I don't know why, but Vegito figures have just never really done anything for me) and I don't really want either of the base form Gokus because no one else besides Trunks is available in a base form figure in this line to go with. I may get the Super Saiyan God ones down the line, but I'm not sure yet, I haven't decided.
I'm starting to look at Banpresto's other lines now. Scultures have been around for a while now, so there's really no way for me to track down a bunch of them at reasonable cost, but I may take select pieces from it in the future if I see any that I want. The main ones on my radar right now that I'm considering collecting are Dramatic showcase and Resolution of Soldiers. I also have my eye on Genkidama Goku, the resemblance to the anime counterparts on those are amazing. So yeah, TFC is my favorite, but I have all of those currently, so I'm starting to look into some of the other lines to see what I like.

I have only now seen that I did not have anything written on this topic. I will do it now.
For me comes first the HQDX/Scultures (new even the RoS) then the Ichiban Kuji! Then the moment nor the Figuarts Zero (who knows how long, for lack of space) and Resins. MSP and DXF/TFC I will unfortunately no longer collect. And all DBZ characters (ev. DB), no characters from movies / GT / Super.

It's very difficult to choose just one line. If I were to choose, I would have to go with Figuarts Zero at the moment. Amazing, consistent work.
I was against static figures/statues for the longest time when I first started collecting the S.H. Figuarts line. It wasn't until last year when I picked up a Figuarts Zero Super (Saiyan) Vegeta Final Flash. The sculpt and paint application were unbelievable and incomparable, it completely changed my opinion about them. So I bought other Figuarts Zeroes such as Spirit Bomb Frieza Saga Goku, Final Form Frieza, Saiyan Saga Kamehameha Goku, Saiyan Saga Galick Gun Vegeta, and Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks. I purchased the Figuarts Zero EX Super Saiyan 3 Goku and Super Saiyan Trunks. (Have Super Saiyan Vegeta on pre-order) I really hope that line continues.
Banpresto caught my eye with SCulutres 5 BIG Super Saiyan Goku and Bardock. I also purchased Raditz recently. (Great figure!) The future of that line has me very concerned. SCultures 5 was so outstanding that SCultures 6 was going to have difficulty to even match the quality but it sadly never even came close.
Dramatic Showcase grabbed me immediately with the Goku/Gohan vs. Perfect Cell Kamehameha scene. The future of that line is very promising and I'm looking forward to purchasing all shown releases. I'm actually not a big fan of the Ginyu Force but I think Dramatic Showcase captured the best part of that team so I'll be looking forward to purchasing them.
I also purchased Dimension of Dragon Ball Golden Frieza. That has to be the best sculpt work I've seen for the Golden Frieza design. It's the only one I've been interested in that line though. I may get Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku but I'm going to wait and see what alternatives there are.
