I didn't plan on showing another WIP pic so soon, but it's so boring on here today that I wanted to give y'all something to look at and talk about. Here's the latest update.
I need to add a small amount of sculpt to Frieza's pod's "ears" or whatever you want to call them and then sand them more. I still have to work on making the arms squish more as they are making him sit too high. I reworked his neck articulation right now because he was looking up too much. He's still looking up a bit, but I'm having trouble getting the head down more. I'm not going to waste my time sculpting legs for him as they would be difficult to fit and there's already a lot of engineering going on here. I also need to sculpt a new lip to the top of the pod. I'd like to figure out some sort of clear base for the pod similar to what is on the HG figure. I don't see the point in having such a strange looking gray plastic base, though it does hold the pod extremely well. I have a bunch of Real Works bases, but they are kind of large.
Cargo's going really well. I sanded his body the other day and have some base coats of white on him. I'm still not that good at sculpting clothes in my opinion, but I think I did a good job on him. I need to sand the head a little bit because of super glue and my fingerprint lol. I did get his ears moved back and he looks a lot better. His neck articulation is working great. I've gotten really good at articulation since my first experiment on Saiyan Saga Krillin.
The pod is looking really good, though it hurts my brain to even think about it because I'd have no desire to work on it. Frieza is looking better, just a lot of work for a 2nd Frieza 1st Form. Cargo looks the best here and he even has neck articulation, wow.
Collection Goal Update: 501 Characters Down, 499 To Go
I'm going to end up with two regular Zarbons in my display: the model holding the balls, and the Raditz-based one, so I think it's going to be super cool having a Frieza in his pod to go next to the model. The only problem is, I really need another Dodoria, preferably holding dragonballs, and I'm not sure if a model at the right size exists and if one does, how I would get one, much less get one for cheap. I will probably have to redo my old Dodoria custom that is falling apart.
Shiffty, the head and body is just regular Real Works Frieza. The pod is from some sort of Banpresto model kit set. I can't remember the name now...
Tonight's work: did a little paint on Shuu, new antennas for Dende, I swapped heads on the Piccolo figures and I think I'm going to make the first one taller, 2nd one has his antennas replaced, Moori has his sculpt roughly started. I need to use clay for his face as sculpt us not good at holding detail like I need.
