solubletoast Sadly dragonballtoys.com went dead sometime in the last 6 months (I'm surprised someone was paying the hosting bills after all these years), but I had been looking at the forum archive in the last year, and it was just so funny to see everybody complaining about Jakks when they first took over. Everybody was so pissed off about all the repaints and lack of new characters. It was honestly really funny, because people were upset that we got "bait and switched" with the Art of Fusion SS Goku and SS Vegeta 2-pack. The promo pics showed new figures, but the release was an Irwin Majin Vegeta repainted and Jakks Mystic Gohan body with SS Goku head. People were pissed off. Eventually, Jakks DID release the new molds, but people HATED THEM!  It's truly ironic though, because the first SS Goku was the best SS Goku they ever made in my opinion. I've never liked how long his legs are, but the paint application is perfect. The Vegeta was alright, but not that unique.
People were upset that we didn't get this... till we got it... . The sculptor who did most of the awful DBGT figures's heads obviously worked on this one.
But seriously, Jakks really did upset all of us with the constant repaints and rereleases. I had stopped collecting before they released the amazing King Cold, Nuova Shenron, Omega Shenron, etc. The figures could only be found at Toys R Us (and maybe comic book stores) by that time, and I didn't live near one. I bought most of my Irwin and Jakks figures at Target, Walmart, and Eckerd Drug (which turned into CVS).

I find it funny that people were complaining about them around the same time I was probably staring at websites for hours on end just looking at them. I don’t think we ever got any Jakks DBZ figures in the UK. I remember being genuinely shocked when I found a school uniform Gohan Irwin figure in a Superdrug (a health and beauty shop) for £4. Literally no idea why that was there but I bought it very swiftly. I’d have loved the chance to own any figures the US got, even the GT figures with the dodgy headsculpts. It’s amazing that 20 years after it’s height of popularity we’ve now got most major toy stores selling Dragon Stars figures. I found a bunch in a HMV the other day, including the tournament stage with Goku. No chance am I going to complain about the mass amounts of Gokus and Vegetas in the line when I’m finally actually seeing them in shops here.

Branjita God, that Vegeta Face Sculpt is etched into my memory. I remember having that pack . The body was well articulated for the time..but that face I think they showed off an amazing looking SS3 Goku when they first started out at a toyfair..and the final product was..wow. 😂 derelictbadger I Found that wave in Superdrug back in the day too!

I just noticed that Bandai America made a pretty cool 15 second commercial for Dragon Stars that they shared on their YouTube March 26, 2021.

Bandai America's Dragon Stars Master Roshi is available for Pre-order on Amazon now, with a release date of September 15, 2021 amzn.to/2UEghB5  The box art officially confirms he is part of wave 19. Why black haired "Hobby Exclusive" Gogeta isn't considered Wave 19... I don't know. He was released sometime after the very early SSB Goku from wave 19, and significantly before the relative recent black haired DBS Broly from wave 19. I don't follow this line closely enough to know whether this is unusual or not.   Looks like (last year's?) SS Gogeta Walgreens exclusive had its own unique packaging as well. We really need an expert (who actually buys every figure) to maintain the checklist on DBF. Are there any volunteers?   I can’t wait for that roshi |

Distribution is really screwed up where I am. We never got Broly or the new Blue Goku yet we got Roshi and Base Gogeta earlier than most other countries. We also never got the Janemba wave either so I have to import both him and Wrath Broly sometime.

I don't believe that's an official Dragon Stars Instagram, it's a fake "official" account to my knowledge. However... the Nappa doesn't look like a Shodo, and I can't find a custom figure of Nappa via google that looks like that, so.... I hope it's real.
