In my eyes, Irwin's Dragon Ball Z: Secret Saiyan Warriors line is, without question, the most pointless figure concept that any company has ever come up with for the Dragon Ball series. With horrible proportions, Star Wars figure articulation, badly painted rubber bodies which tear due to having to be stretched to fit the figures inside of, costumes that don't match (see the Vegeta figure below), and just being a concept that would've worked much better if they had released figures with alternate heads, I see zero reason for these things to exist. While they're certainly not as bad as the Secret Saiyans, all the kid oriented stuff Bandai of America is doing for Super comes off as pointless to me, cause I'm not sure how many younger kids get into Dragon Ball anymore

So I did a bit of googling, and you didn't even mention the fact that in the case of Majin Buu, the "transformation" is from Super Buu to Fat Buu... Like, from a toy perspective I get it, but it's still dumb that he "transforms" into an earlier state.

Those look hilarious. But frankly, they're not that far off from the original flagship 90's Bandais. Those had close to no articulation whatsoever. No leg articulation at all. (I see that even those figures have at least one point of leg articulation.) Also, no articulation at the elbow. Basically, all you could so is move the stiff arms up and down, the head left to right, and twist the leg/torso left to right. Which I find hilarious too.
We tend to get nit picky sometimes, but the truth is that figures have come a long way.

Oh, absolutely. Gone are the days when our figures are literally held together with rubber bands.

Now that Dragon Ball Super is on Toonami, many more kids will learn of it.

I'm pretty OCD when it comes to consistency, so I wanted all of the images to have white backgrounds. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good one of Boo.

No that's fine, I was more just surprised you didn't mention the one that literally DOWNGRADED in his "transformed" state. It's so dumb.

Perhaps they were testing the water for G.I. Joe sized DBZ figures

I remember when these came out. Never was a fan and that reverse buu annoyed me but not as much as how the base figure was so much smaller than the shell, which it had to be but I think these could've been decent with more fitting character selections. The only one that made sense from a size standpoint was trunks into super trunks.
kid buu in a super buu shell (still reverse but a small character to a big one) First form frieza in a 2nd form shell Broly in a legendary ss shell
Those would have been a lot better character choices for this particular gimmick imo but they still probably would have not been very popular

Sorry to revive a long-dead thread; but for the first time in YEARS I thought about these atrocious figures today. Couldn't recall what they were called; so I came to this forum to look for them. As soon as I saw a thread with "pointless figure" in the title; I KNEW those suckers would be listed here, and I was not disappointed. I actually recall having the Cell figure(s) back in the day. And I can recall being desperate and those awful figures were all I could find that day, so it was that Cell or nothing. In hindsight, shoulda just saved a few bucks.
