Buu Saga KrillinDifficulty: 7/10 How to make: I wouldn't say this was complicated, but it was time consuming to do it properly. I started with a bald CP Krillin head, an Irwin body, Jakks SS3 Gotenks legs, and bootleg HSCF Goku-Ginyu arms. I chose those arms because they were a little bit smaller in scale (and were just about the only smaller arms I have) and I chose those legs because it shortened him a lot. The shoes are from I think a BK balancing Krillin as I didn't have Gotenks' feet for some reason. I sculpted the hair entirely from apoxie sculpt using the Irwin head as visual reference. I sculpted the neck and cut the Irwin one off because it was too big around, I then articulated it. The legs pretty much fit and didn't require engineering I don't think. I sculpted the bottom of the pants and the shoe laces, along with the sole of the shoes since they didn't fit flush with the ground. It wasn't a hard custom, but it was time consuming. For example, the last night I worked on it, it took 4.5 hours to paint 5 coats of paint on the pants, shoes, and the white accents. The only thing I didn't paint was the shirt since it was mint, though I did paint the underside of the sleeves. i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5051.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5050.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5049.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5048.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5047.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5046.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5045.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5044.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5041.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5040.jpgAs an added accidental bonus, I can swap this head onto my Namek Saga Krillin's body and make a pretty sweet "Yo! Son Goku Returns!" Krillin. i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5058.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5057.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5056.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5055.jpg

Chaozu from Cell or Saiyan SagaDifficulty: 7/10 How to make: I am making a whole bunch of new Chaozus eventually for my collection, and this one was the first to be finished and how he appeared from Saiyan to Cell Saga. I used the body from the HSCF bootleg Chaozu, arms from a DWC Goku of some type I think, the head from a CP Krillin, and to be honest, he was quite a lot of work for such a little figure to get it to look right. Painting Chaozu figures is always difficult and this was no exception. The eyes are always a problem, and this was so difficult. I articulated the head, but not the arms. He looks basically exactly like he does in the famous group shot from the opening animation for DBZ episodes. I can practically hear "Rock the Dragon, Rock the Dragon, Dragon Ball Z! EEEEEYAAAAAAAAH!" just looking at him. I don't have enough of my Cell Saga characters done yet, so I decided to just take a group shot of who was left after Yamcha was killed by the Saibaman. Looks like I need to start finishing some of my Yamchas and Tiens soon. i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5066.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5065.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5064.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5063.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5062.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5061.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5060.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5059.jpgGee, having a Tien here that I only halfway customized sure makes Tien look like crap! Curse Jakks and their lifeless dyed plastic and inaccurate lazyness! At least I have one good Tien Tim wanted to see how my SS Goku from Buu Saga compared to some of my other Buu Saga customs and production figures and I went ahead and took pics of it with some of my other Gokus and then all of my Gokus. Enjoy. I spent a couple of hours today (yeah, a "couple" haha) picking out all of my customs I've made since I started customizing again. I forgot to include at least three figures in the big group pic (Saiyan Saga Tien, Cell Games Saga Tien, and Perfect Cell), forgot to include Saiyan Saga Tien in the Saiyan Saga group pic, and all of the pics are also missing every custom I've made by commission and/or sold. I know I've sold at least two to Cap and one to DG. Not sure about any others. i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/20130613_145253.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/20130613_145301.jpg

Sabretooth CatDifficulty: 3/10 How to make: I bought a tiger at a dollar store. He came with a much smaller lion, and some sort of tree that didn't scale well with either of them lol. Pretty awesome deal though. I liked him because his fur texture wasn't very textured, so he had a little bit of an anime look to him rather than realistic, which is good. I spray painted him white with plastic paint to make repainting him easier and fill the texture in even more. Then I did a couple coats of goldenrod paint, decided I should actually sculpt his details, so I did. Although it isn't evident necessarily in the comparison pic, I lengthened the snout a lot and did not reuse the teeth or anything from the original figure. Anyway, I decided he needed longer claws and toes, which was actually kind of difficult, but I sculpted those too. He had some small external seams from being cast from a mold, so I cut those off, and the seams that were like valleys around his neck, I filled in and sculpted more fur over. He was a pretty easy custom. i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5158.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5157.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5156.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5154.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5153.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5151.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5155.jpgReenacting the first episode of DBZ, or one of the first... i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5165.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5159.jpgIn his dreams...

DB GokuDifficulty: 1/10 How to make: I have never liked the head Jakks put on the body, and I had an extra DWC Goku bootleg, so as soon as this Goku came in the mail, I took his head off, and went through the process to get the DWC one on. Basically, just had to drill it out. I put my extra IF Labs power pole on his back. I didn't feel like trimming the pegs off of the rope. He looks kind of like a WIP, but my DB collection's quality isn't as important to me as my DBZ collection's. I'm happy with him as-is and I'm happy with only spending 15 minutes on him. Maybe someday I'll paint him and refine him, but that day is not today. i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5180.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5179.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5178.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5177.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5176.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5175.jpgThe Oolong is a figure I will have to actually custom make--I'll probably remove his hat and make him into his more typical outfit. The Yamcha is my lesser quality Jakks/Giant Ape one because I didn't want to take the IF Labs one out of his Wolf Fang Fist pose for a quick picture. The Lunch is also my lesser quality Lunch figure that I'll eventually make into the brunette version. Not all of my DB figures are pictured because I couldn't fit them on the table, or they are not a similar scale. The collection is looking rather complete. Also, this is an older custom, but I just received two unmodified figures so I can provide a comparison shot.

Lunch/Launch (brunette blue haired version)Difficulty: 3/10 How to make: I used the Jakks/Giant Ape version of Lunch, which was a good/lucky thing, because the hair is rubbery. The original IF Labs release (like my blonde one in the pics) has hard plastic hair. Overall, the IF Labs releases are always, always, always better painted (just an FYI for collectors). The head is from a World Collectible Figure (I guess? It's that style at least) of the character Nami from One Piece. I had to sculpt the back of the head and do a lot of sanding and engineering to get the hair to fit on it. I'm sure it was considerably less work than if I used IF Labs stiff hair. I did a pretty good job; no glue necessary on that. Other than the head/hair, just a lot of gluing, sanding, drilling, and repainting. I did have to sculpt a replacement index finger on her right hand. I never noticed it was missing. That's what happens when you buy your figures used lol. So all of the paint work was on the hair, eyes, a little bit of skin, the ribbon, touchups on her gloves where paint was missing, the new finger, and I repainted her entire top because I couldn't match the dull color of the original paint. That's one thing that's hard to do with Delta Ceramcoat paint: dull colors. I've never figured out how to do that, as every color they make, even their khaki/sandstone color is really vibrant and saturated. Good thing I'm making cartoon/anime characters huh? i48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5319.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5317.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5316.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5315.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5314.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5313.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5312.jpgi48.photobucket.com/albums/f232/BrangetaBB/IMG_5311.jpg

Oh hey, that last pic reminds me--see that torso on Vegeta? That's the exact same torso I started with to make Krillin. So y'all can see everything I had to do to resculpt it into Krillin's armor. Lots of work!
Eventually I'll be recustomizing that Vegeta to give him proper colors and better detailing.

Awesome customs as always Bran, I love the new Chiaotzu from Cell saga, that pic with Nappa is just perfect. The super saiyan god Goku is great as well. Keep it up!, are you planning on making a 5 inch Yamcha anytime soon?

Seeing these customs again makes me remember why I even wanted to start customizing in the first place!
