Well guys, 2014 is here and with it , the unveiling of my collection. Before we get started id like to just give a brief background of my collecting history, to kind of give you a feel of how this all started....
Back in 96 as a little guy I got into anime through movies like Akira and Ghost In the Shell. The local skate shop I used frequent sold bootleg VHS tapes of fan subbed shows and movies from japan. One day I noticed a tape with some spiky haired blond dudes on the cover and decided to give it a shot. This particular cassette was Movie 8 : "The Galaxy's at the brink!" , now known in the US as Bojack Unbound. Needless to say, I was beyond hooked, I had never seen anything like it before. I showed that tape to everyone of my friends , roping them all in as well. Not too long after that, I got word that an Anime and Japanese import store was opening in the town over. I remember begging my mom to take me there the day it opened in hopes they'd have more dragonball movies...they unfortunately did not on opening day , but they did have FIGURES. That would be the day I received my first ever Dragonball figure, Super Battle Collection Volume 4 Vegeta. I vividly remember being in the store and being so confused by many of the figures I was seeing. Why was there a kid version of Trunks? Who was Goten? Who is gotenks? WHO IS THIS ENORMOUS DUDE BROLY?! I would go back to that store every weekend to buy new figures with my allowance and paper route money, not having a clue who most of them were. This also got a few of my friends into collecting them too, so we'd all go together, which was awesome. The following year we got word that there was a Dragonball Playstation Game coming out in the US. A playstation and that game were all I wanted that year for Christmas, and I got it. The game was Dragonball GT Final Bout. A few of my buddies and I would play that game non stop after school and through one of those guys inviting some of his friends over one day to play with us, I met my friends of now 17 years, Dark Gohan, and his brother. That day I let DG borrow the Bojack tape and the rest is history.
As the next few years would pass, I'd complete the SBC through that little anime shop , acquire more fan subbed tapes, and through the back of a video game magazine find out about the AB line. As Dragonball progressed and grew in popularity in the states, I'd collect any and every Dragonball figure I could find. Irwin blew me away with their first original wave, I couldn't believe they were making toys of Nappa, Raditz, Master Roshi, Etc. It was a dream come true.
Growing up I never had a computer, but in 2001 I was shown the original DBTOYS site by a friend. I was shocked by all the AB figures I had never seen and crazy items from japan. I'd lurk the hell out of the site every time I was near a computer trying to get more and more information about the history of the series.
As the years passed my interest in the figure line would fade, I just wasn't into the Jakks line and was disappointed by them constantly re-releasing the saiyans. I would eventually stop collecting entirely.
Flash forward to 2009. My collection had suffered some losses , every single one of the boxes to my SBC figures had been lost in a move, and my collection had sat in bins in my grandmothers basement for years. I had other hobbies at the time and one day in 2010 , decided to sell my collection to fund another pastime. When they sold on eBay... There was an almost instant feeling of regret. I didn't feel right. I vowed that I'd use some of that money to pick up a few dragonball items , just so I had something to show my love for the show. I was amazed by all the new stuff that was on eBay from Japan, and immediately fell in love with the Gashapons. They were in-expensive, didn't take up much space, and had great sculpts... I told DG about them and he decided to pick a few up as well......
WE WERE JUST GOING TO PICK UP A FEW GASHAPONS, I SWEAR... JUST A FEW......
AND HERE WE ARE.... 3 AND A HALF YEARS LATER......

Android / Cell saga

Bottom shelf center (Can you guys tell what the empty spot parallel from MSP Goku Is saved for?
)

Tournament / Buu saga

Section b

On to the Detolfs...
"A light in the dark" shelf. 1 of 20 Black Zeem Oozaru vs. Goku and HSCF Villainy.

All Vegeta, All the time.

Sluts.

DB Based shelf. Not very happy with the overall design of this one. Needs work.

"Vegeta versus" shelf with Zeem Oozaru Tail Cut Version.

Saiyan Saga Saiyan stuff

GT Shelf. The older I get, the less I like GT. Originally I wasn't going to do a GT shelf at all, but I really enjoy some of the Villain character designs , so I figured they deserved a small spot. This shelf also houses some of my all time favorite bootlegs.

Movie and TV special shelf. Setting this up actually pissed me off. If companies would have spent half the effort they've used pumping out redundant Saiyan figures over and over, on making the movie villains and henchman... This would have been a cooler shelf haha.

Arlia, featuring 1 of 50 special color Zeem Oozaru.

Saiya Power.

The Cold family and their undoing.

From Namek with love.

Saiyan Pride with 1 of 50 Silver TTF Vegeta. Possibly my favorite Detolf shelf. I just love the color contrasts. A very classy looking set up.

The life and times of Son Goku.

These final 2 shelves are temporary. This one will eventually be home to a massive Figuarts battle in front of muscle tower. A homage to the Budokai 2 battle stage. You can however catch a glimpse of my Prototype Irwin WWII style Goku hiding amongst the megahouse.

All the homeless loose figures I had no clue where to put. This will eventually turn into a Battle Of the Gods shelf when all the new figures release.
