My hg set 23 finally came today, thanks cracker for finding it cheap. So I spent about twenty minutes cutting the multiple bags open and putting the figures together. And I was like "you... bastards! More tiny figures I have to paint!" The set also came with this gold Gohan I don't particularly like (what's the point of it?). And what is this black thing? There's also done sort of funny looking comb-like clip in there too...?

They don't seem to like painting the back of the figures by that pic.

That's really irksome. It annoys me, and they're not even my figures! I only own 9 HGs currently, and the backs of all of mine are fully painted. Is the unpainted backs a problem that plagues the HG line or is it exclusive for whatever reason to this specific set? Any chance you just picked up a defected set? No, that doesn't make sense considering it's multiple molds. Hmm...

My HG 23 set also doesn't have paint apps on the back, so it's not just your set. The metallic figure was a style carried over from HG 20 Parts 1 and 2 where each figure had a metallic counterpart. HG 21 and 22 also have a metallic figure included in each set. It seems like a way for Bandai to have 6 figures in a set while keeping production costs low by only sculpting 5 new figures for the set. The black thing is just a stand for the gold figure. The "comb" clip is to connect the stand to other HG stands.

Thanks for that info. I think I'm going to try to sell the gold Gohan and possibly the regular one too. I wish he wasn't included and this set was only namek saga figures. I think I'll skip painting the backs of the figures, as I doubt I'll ever see their backs again.

Thanks for this pic! Darn....that Trunks is just a bit too small for my taste. The body size is fine enough, but the head and arms are too small. Guess I'll have to make my own. Branjita so what if their backs aren't painted? Are you displaying them with their butts facing you? Lol it's not like they're customs or a 5 inch scaled figure who'd need the back painted. Leave them be and display their frontside, so you can use that tedious painting time on real customs.

I guess I don't have much of an eye for detail because I didn't even notice the backs of my HG 23 set were not colored, lol. I'm not a fan of the bronze/gold HG figures [it seems like the Super Saiyans come in gold]. I agree with you Branjita they are utterly pointless. I feel like all they do is inflate the price of sets because technically there are more figures, but it is the same mold. Maybe I could understand if it was a special edition or limited release. HG 20 I and II are technically sets of 12 but it comes with each figure in both full color and bronze/gold so really it is a set of 6. Regardless, it is one of the most expensive sets with part I and II selling for around $80 each.

Congrats! If one day I manage to get more space for my figures I may add this awesome spaceship to my collection.

I got two hg Saibamen in the mail today. I will eventually have a namek saga Bulma heading my way, and other than wanting an hg scale db Bulma, that may be the end of my hg collecting days. I don't want to collect everybody.

Got in the final piece for my Freeza's Force collection... Congrats Aussiedcfan. Is there a chance you can pose it next to a HQDX freeza if you have one? I'd sure like to see how they look like together.
