RAGE!!!!!!!!!
I am SERIOUSLY pissed off right now, in the past MONTH I have had 5 figures i ordered turn up smelling like ass and out of the past 3 years of collecting i have only ever had ONE single figure do the same and it wasn't even one i cared about.
the 5 figures i ordered/bought are nearly impossible to find and no matter how much i wash them (3 of which are from Mandarake who as of late apparently suck at detecting smoke!), no matter what soap i use they smell like Sh!t!
none of these figures were labelled as "Owned buy smoker" or "smells like smoke"
if they said that i wouldn't take the damn thing if it were free
why the hell can't these people just smoke outside? especially if your a collector! you should be well aware that your bad habbit will ruin your stuff
I have nothing against smokers, its your body do what you want with it. but seriously, smoke outside or never sell anything you own EVER

I've been preaching about this for years.... And I'm a smoker. I wouldn't dream of ever smoking in my house, let alone near collectibles. I won't even touch something I own without first washing my hands after a cig. It's just flat out destroying your stuff.

Even though I've given you advice on removing smoke odor, I still haven't managed to do so on several figures I own. The Real Works figures still smell like a forest fire, and I have a Yugioh dragon that smells like an ash tray as well. The dragon actually made my plastic storage cabinet smell like smoke as well. I am currently trying to get rid of the odor with a dish of baking soda. Doubt it will work.
The one thing that smelled horrifying that I was able to remove the smoke odor from (that I still own) is the Build a Figure Monkeyman by Marvel Legends. It was horrifying, but the Mr. Clean with Febreze in it took care of that completely.

It's just flat out destroying your stuff. you are one of the few smokers i know that agrees with me, most of them say something along the lines of "It's just smoke" or "its my stuff who cares" Smoke from a live cigerette smells MUCH better than stagnant old remains left on plastic/fabric etc... Even though I've given you advice on removing smoke odor, I still haven't managed to do so on several figures I own. I think i will have to put them in a jar with a bar of soap and seal the lid for like a week

Supposedly putting the figure in a ziploc back full of cat litter with odor neutralizing stuff works, but I'm really unwilling to buy cat litter.

they sell small bags at the $ store, and cat litter is also good to use in the garden as gravel if it doesnt work

I am a smoker. I almost always smoke outside as I enjoy spending most of my free time outdoors, especially in the late evening. Exceptions to the rule was the polar vortex for example, temperatures dropped to -13 here; so I smoked in the kitchen which is on the opposite end of the house from the bedroom in which I keep my stuff. I also had the kitchen fan running. Another exception is the one night a month in which 5 friends come over to play some D&D. Three of us are smokers, and again we smoke in the kitchen with the fan running and one of the windows raised. The wife is not a smoker and can smell it a mile off, and she hasn't said anything about my stuff stinking, so hopefully I can continue this method successfully in moderation. Although I am a smoker, I do not appreciate paying top dollar for items that smell as if they were stored in a smokestack. It's too easily avoided to allow it to happen. Those of you who do not smoke and are not accustomed to the odor, you especially have my condolences when it comes to such nonsense.

Yeah, he smells like smoke. Are you going to try the cat litter? I would but my cat just has normal litter, not anti stink I am a smoker. I do not smoke, and while I dislike the smell of normal live cigs the smell of residue left on something is FAR worse than the normal smell. I can TOLERATE the live smell

I had this happen with some vintage Hanna Barbera toys I bought. I bought this vintage Fred Flintstone from the 70s and when I got the package I could latterly smell it before even opening it once I opened the box it reeked so bad and stunk up my entire room of cigarette smoke, it was as if they smoked 80 packs of cigarettes and sealed the box. it was so bad that the bubble wrap even yellowed. I had to take the Flintstone out of my room. I could never get the smell out I scrubbed it and then wrapped it in a bunch of downy towels and sealed it away. after a year and a half the smell was still some what there, so I had to scrub him again and then wrapped him in downy towels and let him ferment in the downy towels till after another 3 months the smell finally went away
also I bought some Death star engineer figures from star wars around 2011. I washed them and everything and to this day they still smell like cigarette smoke and also contaminated my other clone troopers causing them to stink like cigarette smoke so I had to separate them from my other figures

That's what pisses me off the most. When the smoke smelling figure contaminates others! I have my works in progress bagged together to save Ziploc bags and some of my stinky Real Works figures have contaminated other Real Works figures that came from a different seller.

well so far i have discovered that if the smell is really light then I learned a trick to killing the damn smell!
get a jar (glass) thats just slightly bigger than the figure (big enough to fit about 3 of the same figure should be good) get your hands covered in dove bar/body soap and scrub the figure with you hands DO NOT RINSE put the soaped figure in the container fill the jar with hot water but make sure the bar of soap is in your hand/under the water and filling the jar with soap water close jar and shake (water should lookj soapy) leave in jar for 2 days and then rinse
smell should be gone or very faint
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED ON GASHAPON
i would assume using boiling water would work even better but then you risk melting the glue if the figure is glued

ok, so the smell for those Gashapon didnt go away... it actually made it STRONGER... how the hell i managed that i will never know. anyway, I have left them in an icecream pail filled with salt water.... they now smell like salt instead of smoke... I'm not sure if this is better or if it will last lol Branjita what do you think? would salt water cure your Slifer if you just wipe him down?
