SS4 Goku, New scouter Vegeta, and Nappa all have been shown off with no release dates.
Generic time patroller and obscure Trunks instantly get a release date.
That seem stupid to anyone else?

Nope. Tamashii Nations is capitalizing on the popularity of Dragon Ball Xenoverse and they put up the pre-orders for Xenoverse Trunks and the Time Patroller at the best time.

I expect nothing less from Tamashii. Just like releasing the PC SS Vegeta, then a month or two later announcer the 2.0 SS Vegeta. They've been annoying lately. These prototypes make up for it, assuming they release them. I wont hold my breath |

I'm uncomfortable knowing they're "display only". We've seen SS4 Goku on display multiple times with no news. Not gonna be satisfied until they set a release date.

I will admit that I think Ace is a rather dumb release from Xenoverse, seeing as how he's not in anyone's actual game...since none of our Time Patrollers looked like that. But, Xenoverse Trunks is a great release that makes perfect sense.
The first Xenoverse game was the best selling Dragonball game of ALL time. In a single month it beat the sales of all of Namco's other games for the entire year. It reignited a lot of interest in Dragonball, and it is the reason we are getting more games with even larger budgets. He's going to be in those games, too. As we are seeing in Xenoverse 2.
I remember seeing a lot of talk online about Trunks' new look and his main role in the game, when it came out. He's very far from being an "obscure" character or look. He may not be everyone's most wanted release, but he has the exposure and the current media to tie into, that he makes a lot of sense to release.
This isn't out of left field, at all.

They still could have had ONE of these up for pre-order. One of what? Edited: Tamashii Nations are focusing on correlating releases. If they were going to release Xenoverse Trunk, they were going to release Xenoverse Time Patroller. |

I don't like them making characters that don't exist in the series. I'll forgive them for Trunks. But the TP figure is such a dumb concept. I hope the sales are awful so they never consider that again.
I'd much rather have that SS3 Vegeta figure, if they're gonna make characters/forms that don't exist in DBZ
