I try to keep my toy collection a secret from friends and family. My friends all think it's weird and my family views it as some kind of mid-mid-life crisis haha. My friends used to give me sh*t about it so I put everything in my closet and put a lock on the door to avoid anyone seeing it. Anytime I tell people how much I spend (which really isn't that much) they always act like I've gone crazy. So now I just keep that info to myself, and the only people I show my collection to are you guys. Honestly you shouldn't be ashamed and you shouldn't care what anyone thinks. It's your money and you spend it on what you want! Screw the rest!

I hate when people pass judgement on collections in general. People that mock a dragon ball collection but have a baseball card collection or a basketball shoe collection are the biggest double standards. That also goes for people that don't have their own collections but support other collections while mocking the DB fan.

My mom doesn't care as long as my bills for school are paid. My girl doesn't mind either. My friend also collects. In the it doesn't matter what people think, if it makes you happy.

Boddah, those friends of yours suck. If I invited somebody over and they made fun of me or my stuff, it'd be the last time they'd be over, and I'd distance myself from them. Life is too short to voluntarily try to maintain friendships with people who tear you down. I realized that a few years ago. I had this bitch I went to college with who would always comment sarcastically, cynically, negatively on things I'd put on Facebook, and man... the day I blocked her changed my entire Facebook "life" for the better. Her moving out of town and not having to see her at friends' birthday parties and such was a great thing too... I got lucky in that regard.

I collect and sell toys. I have not the time to sacrifice me for justifications or explanations, whether for a collection of toys or other... Honestly Boddah, if people tell you what style of reflexions, I think they have nothing to do with your entourage, it comes to non-compliance obvious to your person. If people then say they love you or be your friends, none of them has the right to judge. The people don't even try to understand what is different, merely reject or ridicule in the name of "social conformity" they have clearly never been able to question, merely bleat with the sheep. These are definitely the ones who laugh watching documentaries on Native Americans, People of the Amazon or other. As long as it is not for the narrow confines of their usual landmarks that exceeds, and rather than admit their limitations they prefer to laugh. In short, the zero level of reflection. They also have fun and kid activities, and spend their time on video games that they play with their latest electronic gadgets (iPhone, iPad...). When we look at all this with a critical eye and a little objective, we see that these pleasures are purely infantile, and also derivatives activities kids. The principle is the same, the only difference is in appearance, since these activities are recognized as "socially acceptable" as opposed to the collection of toys. But such an attitude of discrimination is pathetic and frankly laughable. Personally, to say it simply: I'm, I want, I take and f*** everybody. And sorry for my english.

My friends are fine with the collection. I streach the word collection. It's a little of everything. I can relate to the arguments. My friends who I won't indicate, have similar results with the collection reactions. Who cares, it's what you care! Keep in mind theft is a real issue. So choose who sees it wisely. Bill Gates has a Da Vinci book worth millions, for paper. If a billionaire can collect paper, why can't you collect plastic.

Boddah I can just agree with what the rest of guys have told you. You have to enjoy your collection man, that's the whole purpose of collecting. Don't hide what you like/do/how you are and display it proudly in your room. That's your hobby and like so, you have to enjoy it.

Most of my friends are indifferent. Most of my friends share my gaming interests rather than Dragon Ball or toys. They just know that I spend money on plastic dolls instead of games 'cause I usually play cheap or free games on PC. My main Dragon Ball friend is pretty interested and appreciative. My other anime friend cares a little less, although maybe that's because I usually try to show him during maths class and he's all like "PISS OFF I'M DOING MATHS!" My parents are fine with it. Mum and Dad usually like to see whatever has come in the mail and have a look at my collection. Sometimes the price point disturbs them a little (when I bought Figuarts Gohan for 180 they were like "He's shorter than the rest of them!")but they understand.

On the inside, I bet anyone who says that collecting is childish is actually super jealous because they can't bring themselves to admit they want to be a big kid like the rest of us. saiyen Your English is fine

I agree with everyone, Boddah. If these friends still mean something to you, then display your goods and let them grow on your friends. If they continue to shoot it down, send them on their way. My wife was back and forth on it for some time, but I recently convinced her to let me get a 2nd armoire whenever we eventually get a home.
