I just want to know your opinion guys. Which should be more valuable and expensive between the two?

The SBC isn't particularly rare, it's just old and very large. The Jakks seems to be a short run, and not common, so I would say Omega Shenron.

Omega Shenron is pretty rare. Like Branjita said, the SBC Super Monkey Baby isn't actually that rare, unsure why people charge so much for it. When it was brand new back in the day it could be had for pretty cheap. I missed out because when the SBCs were new I was a kid and broke.

I still don't understand to this day how Omega Shenron became so rare. I'm going to go out on a limb and think that Jakks Pacific were too lazy to mass produce them? Unless somebody knows the real reason. But Jakks always seemed like a bunch of lazy SOB's that constantly repainted Irwin's figure bodies and may have made one new body of their own but used it for like 6 different figures. LOL, didn't they use the same body for like two Tien figures, Super Saiyan Broly, and both transformations of Bojack? What the eff man?

Thanks for the opinions. I just opened the thread because lately, I've been seeing SBC Great Monkey Baby on eBay and it outprices the Jakks Omega Shenron especially if it's MISB and the box is in pristine condition.

Well, sticking only to facts, once Jakks DBZ figures were no longer carried at Wal-Mart or Target, and the only place most collectors could find them was Toys R Us, that made things difficult. This happened after Series 15 I remember because Cyborg Frieza was the last I was able to get at my Target, which was the primary place I bought my figures. I basically stopped collecting after that because I had to make a special trip to TRU if I was going to go there. The final time I went there and saw DBZ figures, there were Bojack Unbound figures on the pegs I think, and many of the dbgt figures were in the clearance bin. I remember a lot of Pan in the bin. I don't know if it was the last time I was there, but I remember seeing a few Eis Shenron on the pegs, and I wish I bought them all instead of none lol. Adrenaline or carnage6 may remember some details.

I'd definitely say that Omega is the more valuable piece. The SBC Great Monkey Baby is a great figure, despite its gold fur. But the value comes from it's large size, as it overwhelmingly outclasses every DBZ SBC figure by far as far as size is concerned. Granted, Jakks Omega is 8 inches tall which is actually too tall for a 5 inch scaled collection, but his production had to have been limited. Only one time, did I ever see him at Toys r us. And even loose, it still sells for $120-$160....I'm pretty sure a loose Great Monkey Baby doesn't sell for that much. MOC? It probably sells for more than Omega simply because it's at least 12+ years older and the package raises its value a lot.

I believe the SBC Great Monkey Baby is just 8 years older as year 1996 is seen on its foot. Jakks Omega is a year 2004 figure if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, so does it mean that Jakks Omega Shenron's package pales in comparison with SBC Great Monkey Baby?

True. Good point. I forgot Omega came out in 2004. The packaging is certainly nicer for SBC GMB, but the age helps the value as well. Finding a MIB one now that's 18 years old, for something that big, is really tough.

Thats been the toughest part about collecting the SBCs for me, I only collect the MIB pieces and a lot of times the boxes are less than stellar when they arrive in the mail. I know the figures are old, but when I get the original 1992 releases they all better arrive near perfect. I plan to spend quite a bit on those pieces in particular.

I hated when Walmart and Target stopped selling Z/GT figures. The only places I could find 'em were at K-Mart, and a Suncoast movie store in the mall. Suncoast had the first couple series of the GT figures, but I never saw Eis, Nova, or Omega in any store at all.

Ya Omega is more rare. Jakks Omega figure was only put out once in one wave. If a store didn't order any of that wave, that was it and they missed their chance. SBC figures were sold in Japan for many years and not just once for one wave. Most SBC figures remained in production longer though GT figures were available less since it wasn't as popular as Z and that particular figure came at the end of the line. The earlier waves are dirt common because they were still selling original wave SBC figures like Goku and Piccolo alongside the GT ones.

So Jakks Omega was rarer than SBC Great Monkey Baby. Here in the Philippines, never did I see a Jakks Omega being sold. So with all the comments, I can deduce that when selling both at loose condition, Omega must be more expensive. But when selling both at MISB, Great Monkey Baby must be more expensive because of it's size, packaging, and age.
