How is free speech anymore in jeopardy than it already is? The ability to control the internet ALREADY exists to every country in the world. The US government can already shut down any site and take data from it. This is most apparent in the recent Silk Road legal case, and the owner of the site facing 30 years in prison for all of the stuff he pulled. It's also clearly visible in the take down and blocking of websites offering pirated content.
In it's most extreme form we have China and North Korea, controlling almost everything their citizens do online. Blocking content and the alternative services made available to citizens go through government censors and agencies.
In a minor form, we have South Korea. While South Korea has some of the fastest internet in the world, usage is rather restricted. Not because of censoring, but because the government relies on outdated microsoft security protocols and software that modern sites and computers don't always work well with. Anyone who has ever been "activex'ed" knows what I'm talking about.
Somewhere in the middle are other European countries that are giving more power to entertainment companies, allowing them to more easily use the judicial system to block websites that offer content infringing upon copyrights.
BUT, Obama's proposed net neutrality is NOT about restricting internet at all. If you really read up on it, it is making the internet a legal right of all the people and not allowing it to be blocked and restrict access to any of it. It is dealing with regulations of the data flow, NOT REGULATING CONTENT OR FREE SPEECH. You really need to read up on this, because you are making sooo many incorrect assumptions and saying flat out falsities.
Honestly, this has no bearing on if the government wants to "control" and remove things from the internet. They can do that regardless...but, they don't because this isn't North Korea.

I prefer a little bit of the old Rotavirus, myself.

What if we take the Ebola virus and we make it rotate? That's the best of both worlds right there.

Ebola is a disease in which people bleed out all their orifices and usually quickly die. Plenty of reason to develop a shred of concern even if all you really gain is a bit of insight to the disease.

There's sensible concern and there's panic. This website exhibited panic about Ebola. And it's exhibiting panic about net neutrality.

They, also, published an article calling for the removal of black politicians from their positions, and said black men were for housework...
A bastion of journalistic excellence, for sure.

There's sensible concern and there's panic. This website exhibited panic about Ebola. And it's exhibiting panic about net neutrality. generalization. Surely you don't think one person (or regarding the ebola thread, a few people) can represent an entire site. Wait, you mean this forum or Daily Caller? If you mean this forum...the statement stands. generalization. can't rely on them. otherwise you end up writing articles for the Daily Caller.

You're quite right about my generalization timone, sorry. It's not like DBF put out an official statement saying ebola will destroy the world lol
