Ok I'm using chrome now and the text entry sure looks different. And oddly enough, it seems like it is working just fine. Swype is correctly suggesting alternate words for me and I can go back and change words without my cursor being inserted in crazy places! the only thing that is weird is that it automatically zooms in when I start typing. Definitely recommend chrome!

Didn't realise you could get Chrome on the iPad but see that you can now. I'll just stick with safari for now though

Oh I've noticed bbcode, much better for issues like that. I just prefer the other option. Ah well.

I do see one problem in chrome. it does a bunch of resize checks that android browser isn't showing me. I need to check the code and modify the location of some code tomorrow and see if it improves the process. The site should only make one resize at most and I'm seeing three resizes in chrome. One is the zoomed out desktop site, then it zooms to fill my screen, then it does some kind of adjustment that changes the screen maybe 5%.

Also the custom fonts aren't loading in chrome... wtf... and there is some weird delay from the point when you submit a post to the time it takes you to the finished posted post...

Well I know you will get it worked out. You have done an impressive job so far and I don't see that ending

this is aggravating. I can type perfectly in chrome but everything else sucks. the site is doing way more than 3 resizes, it's slow, and I just got logged out somehow while trying to attach pictures. a lot of the problem with it being slow is that chrome is doing some sort of extra zoom fitting crap. I'll have to work on this tomorrow...!

How many of us actually use Chrome? No point pulling your hair out trying to get the site to work with Chrome if not a lot of members use it.

i like the new site WAY better, the only thing i dont really like is it might be a little TOO organized, like having 3 catch of the day and 3 check this out

I fixed the repetitive resizing thing on Chrome (at least for the most part as demonstrated on my Android phone). Getting the custom fonts to work properly on it is more trouble than it's worth to me (would take me over an hour based on what I have read), and also disabling the automatic zoom for text entry is also about an hour or 2 of work I don't really want to do, and it will be buggy/inconsistent. Stupid Chrome for Android... (and possibly for iPhones too).
I guess I take back my recommendation to use Chrome as your browser if your default one doesn't work right with the site.
I just tested in Firefox for Android and the fonts work, the page doesn't resize a bunch of times when it loads, and everything is pretty quick. However, just like the default Android browser, Swype doesn't make recommendations for alternate words when you go back and try to fix your sentences, so that sucks. Chrome will allow that, but it's problematic everywhere else and SLOW!
I guess in other words, Firefox is about the same as the default browser in every way. It seems like the cursor for going back and modifying what you already typed does function a little better and it didn't add a bunch of extra spaces to what I typed, but I need to use it for a few days before I can say that for sure.
If you want super quick functionality, the ProBoards app is still the quickest, but ever since the V5 upgrade (which affected DBT several months ago--this site is the same new V5 version) the app will load multiple copies of the same topic to the "Latest" list, which makes it bothersome to try to go through topics one by one. In other words, when you click back to go back to the latest list, if some other topics have been posted in, they'll be added to the top of your list. So, for example, if you check Catch of the Day (Figuarts) then check another topic, and while you were checking that other topic, somebody else posts in CotD (Figuarts), it'll be back on your list when you go back which is confusing. It gets more complicated than that, because if you ignore it and go on with another topic you haven't looked at, and another, and another, you can end up with CotD (Figuarts) in your list multiple times if multiple people are replying during your time using the app. And also, when you load the app again later that day, or the next day, it will still have the duplicated topics in your Latest list which is annoying and confusing as heck. The way it functioned with V4 was that you'd have to click reload to have updated topics back in the list and there were never duplicates. Anyway... Swype works with word suggestions in the app, and it's much quicker to use, but since it's an app I can't control, the app is missing tons of features that the full site has, and it is not the same colors as the website. I'm going to contact Support about the app and complain about the duplicate things.

Nice work Bran. You do so much to get this site right and we all appreciate it BTW was anyone else having problems with the site yesterday? All I was getting was text on a white background, no visuals whatsoever. Just wondering if it was just me?
