So like many others around here, I'm hip deep in collecting the SH Figuarts line of DB/Z/S figures. And while I'm perfectly willing to wait for that line to get around to filling the gaps in the ranks of the Z-Fighters (which, rate we're going, will take what... 50 years?) there are several secondary characters who likely will never see figures, either because they aren't fighters, or because they're not popular enough to focus on. And while the "List of figures to scale with S.H.Figuarts figures" thread has been SUPER helpful in finding figures that are roughly in scale, there are a few characters I'd like to buy/make/commission that would be roughly on par with the figuarts releases.
Right now, my focus is on the wives, Bulma and Chi-Chi. I've got some rough ideas for customizing them already but I'm not terribly talented on the sculpting end, so I need some help finding substitutes for more complex pieces, such as heads. I should mention that I've put out some feelers with a customizer I've commissioned before that I know does great work, but a lot will come down to when he gets back to me, whether he's willing to do it, and how much it'll cost for him to make it vs how much to make something myself. Until I know one way or another, I'd still like to be prepared.
For Bulma, I'm planning on doing the red dress version seen during the Buu saga. I have a good idea of what to do for her already, either by combining 18 with the figuarts base figure arms and boots from "Hero" (which I've preordered for parts anyway) or just using the figuarts base and Hero's boots and sculpting a dress from scratch. The main thing I need is a good head... I'm not fond of the Jakk's version, and I think it might be too small besides. Frankly, if I can get something well sculpted, but maybe a bit too big, I can still work with it since I know a guy who does commissions on head shrinks for custom figures.
I'm not quite as far along with planning for Chi-Chi as I am for Bulma. I'm going for her design from around the cell saga, since it's what I most associate with the character. I have some rough ideas for the dress and boots, and if nothing else there's a Black Lady coming out in the Sailor moon line whose skirt could be adapted to Chi-Chi's dress with some work. Again, major hurdle is finding a good head sculpt.
