I posted pictures I had saved of both produced and unproduced prototypes to the DBF Facebook. Some of these pictures have been lost from the internet for quite a few years.
These are pictures of the "hardcopy" prototypes of figures sculpted by the studio Infinite Mindz in New York for IF Labs. This gallery includes DB, DBZ, and Yu Yu Hakusho. Everything Infinite Mindz sculpted for DBZ was produced. DB Series 3 and Yu Yu Hakusho Series 4 were not produced.
"These figures are usually larger and in some cases smaller than the production copies. Each one is hand cast in resin, sanded clean, assembled, and then hand painted by airbrush/paintbrush. These are the rarest versions of the figure made with only a handful made from the original molds. Most of the copies have since been destroyed and the molds are long gone. The articulation works and varies between metal and plastic pins. Because each figure is fragile they are not made to be played with. Notice that some of the paint schemes differ from these figures and the final production."

That 2nd series of dragon ball figures would have been amazing. Ox king would probably work for any collection.
I wish the yu yu hakusho toys would have lasted longer. I want that toguro so bad and the only villain they ever made was suzaku

That's actually the 3rd series of the DB ones, there were 2 produced series for DB. I can't recall the exact assortment, but Yamcha was in series 2. It's a real shame they didn't continue that line, even though the inconsistent scale bothered me and still bothers me lol. It's also a real shame that Dr. Wheelo and Hildegarn never made it into the Movie Collection series, nor did Garlic Jr. or Turles.

But yeah, I would have loved for this line to last longer. I vaguely remember seeing the Roshi and Goku before but not sure if I saw the other prototypes. I also think I read somewhere a while back that this line evolved into the smaller dragon ball figures for whatever reason. I think the reason we didn't get the first 3 movie characters in if labs was that at the time lord slug was the first dbz movied dubbed by funimation and they didn't go back and do the first 3 until later but I'm not for certain.

Cool to see IF Labs didn't destroy their prototypes! Some cool looking stuff here, man.
