PROOVY FATHER AND SON KAMEHAMEHA The Infamous Proovy Father and Son Statue was a limited edition piece produced in 2009. The flawless and precise sculpting truly captures the gravity of what was one of the most pivotal moments in the series. This was the only figure ever released under the Proovy company moniker. Proovy Father and Son KAMEHAMEHA Statue Release: 2009 Known Variants: None. (see note below.) Note: If searching for an authentic version of this statue, be wary. Within the past year it has been heavily counterfeited. The box re-production is virtually flawless. The statue itself sports a far muddier and far less precise paint job, with the dragonball logo and Goku and Gohan's faces being particularly sloppy. Unfortunately a lot of sellers on eBay are using stock photos of the original to peddle their bootleg items. The original version still sells for well over $500 dollars in japan, so if you see a deal that seems too good to be true, it probably is. If in doubt, request actual photos from the seller, and be certain to ask for pictures of the Toei sticker, as this has yet to surface on the knock off version. For extra safety, try to purchase directly from a seller in Japan.

What is this worth? I've looked around and it seems very exspensive. I like it though.

So $500 US would be what you would pay for it outside Japan aswell? The cheapest I have seen it is $920 US. That's why I asked again. Sorry should have been clearer.

I wonder why the manufacturer stopped at just this one piece. They could've easily been a hit judging from the quality of their first and only release.

How expensive was it when brand new in Japan? That may be part of the answer to why there were never anymore statues produced.

I know it's a bit cliched to be asking this but is there a way to differentiate between the counterfeit and the original from the box alone? I am looking to buy it but in the photos that the seller sent me, I can't see the Toei sticker on the back of the box. Whaddaya guys think?
