Hi everybody!
I'm brand new to the collection business and a little help with the Super Battle Collection would be much appreciated.
Basically what I'm wondering is: where is the best place to get them and what is a fair price for them? Are there any outliers that are more/less expensive?
So far I've got Vol. 7 ($42 on Ebay), Vol. 00 ($60 on Ebay), Vol. 14 ($30 on Ebay), and Vol. 7 ($8! on Japanimation).
Are those all fair? And does anybody have any thoughts on Japanimation, seems too good to be true but I shall see.

I only own the GT Goku and Pan 2 pack and I found it in a mandarake store while on holiday in Japan just over a year ago for ¥3000. I would guess $30-50 may be a good price point for most. I’d be interested in what happens with Japanimation as they have GT Trunks for $15. Sadly their reviews seem a bit dodgy so I haven’t risked it.

Interesting, very interesting. If anybody knows of another thread that has these sort of details in it, can you please point me in that direction?

Thoughts on Vol 1 going for $110 (Plus shipping) on Ebay? Fair?

I lurk now a days but I can't think of many people who collected the SBC line. So it might be a while before someone replies. I hope someone helps you out!

Yeah, Gohan 's, pretty spot on with his reply. Thankfully I have the entire Super Battle Collection line, but they're stored in my basement somewhere. They were bought about two-decades ago, so I don't think I'll be much help with current prices and whatnot. I do know a few of them were purchased from ToyWiz and eBay, but other than that I'd have to really dig in my memory banks to try and remember where they were bought from, and even then, I doubt I'd be able to recall all that much. The hardest ( and most expensive) purchase was Vol. 39 Great Monkey Baby for like $60-70. Thank God he was purchased back then because nowadays he goes for ridiculous prices on eBay. Unfortunately, the one bought I ended up cutting the back of the box when I opened it because I wasn't careful enough when opening the package it was sent in. That still depresses me from time to time.

Thanks for the reply guys! I'm still on the hunt. I'm up to 9 so far. Including Vol. 00 which is sweet and my favorite #7 (SS Vegeta)

I am not.
Random question, but for the Super Saiyan releases, are you getting the yellow haired versions or gold?

I've never focused on SBC very heavily and just picked which ones I still liked to keep in my collection. There are a lot of collectors in this Facebook group, and they'd be good for asking about pricing. It's also a good place to look for them for sale. www.facebook.com/groups/dbzvintagecollectorsIn general... the '92/'93 releases are expensive because most people consider them the best releases (for good reason too... the Vol 1 Goku, for example, has really well painted eyes). They are also the oldest, so that makes them harder to find and more expensive as well. Certain characters demand a higher amount of money. Broly has always been pretty popular and expensive (though I bet the somewhat recent Dragon Stars Build a Figure Broly has hurt his value a bit since the Dragon Stars one is the same size and superior). Great Monkey Bebi is incredibly expensive... he's a huge figure... and there's only one similarly sized Great Monkey Bebi figure that exists and it is/was very expensive too, so... they are both expensive. Kid Goten is cheap. Most of the value is the result of whether or not people remain interested in that character or figure still. I don't collect figures in the packages, just loose, so the value of certain loose SBC figures is very low, while some are very high. Why is that...? Because Irwin Toy released a lot of the SBC figures in the US... and Mattel released a lot of them in Central America (though those are not commonly seen on ebay if you live in the US)... However, Irwin didn't release all of the figures Bandai released in the SBC line. Ultimate Gohan is a great example. I had to buy a Japanese SBC Ultimate Gohan in order to have him in my collection. Irwin didn't release any of the DBGT figures either. Irwin released SBC Goten several times, so there are a lot of loose ones, and they are so similar to the original SBC, that most people don't care which version they own, if they own one at all. With regard to the loose figures, the '92s and '93s still command a premium. I specifically bought a '93 Broly because it was the only version to have bleach blonde hair. Most of the others have mustard yellow or gold hair, and aren't as rare

I'm not one to overlook an opportunity for shameless self-promotion. As you can see, I still collect SBC, Iriwin re-releases and various other vintage era figures. Unfortunately, no, the figure on display aren't for sale. Though, I am almost certain I have a box of various spare SBC figures hiding somewhere around the place. toyboy - if I come across any I'll definitely send you some pics.

I collect SBC (well collected because I'm done the set). It does depend on if you wnat them MIB or loose. Loose you can get away with buying Iwrin rereleases if you don't have to have the original asian versions. MIB just troll Ebay and search under different countries and hope you come across a good deal. It's hit and miss these days. Also beware of bootlegs if you only want authentic ones. I've seen some good quality bootlegs out there.
