Great collection man, it is impressive. Love your customs. The tiger is incredible and I think I already saw most of the others, but anyway great display. There are a few pieces I missed like that Clairvoyant Baba and Granpa Gohan, I would like to have them and didn't know they existed .

PGV yeah the WCF Baba and Grandpa Gohan are great! I gave one of my Babas a larger crystal ball to sit on (I had a marble that was perfect, so I wanted to do this) and Grandpa Gohan only needs longer legs (for the most part) to be a bit taller to scale with 5 inch scale. I'll eventually do that custom, but like most customs... I am not sure when I will finally do them...

The Namek/Frieza Saga shelfSimilar to Saiyan Saga... the Namek Saga didn't have very many figures produced by Irwin, Jakks, or Bandai in the 2000s, so I had to make a lot of these characters myself. I still have a lot of characters to make, but no time to devote to making them currently. In the past year, I finally added HQ DX Frieza form 3 to my collection. I'm not the type of person who has "grails", but that figure was as close to a grail as I can imagine, because I've wanted it for years, but it has always been more expensive than I've wanted to pay. I've also added several HSCF figures (Goku Ginyu, Zarbon, Kuwi/Cui, and battle damaged SS Goku) to my collection in the past year. Most of these are acting as stand-ins because I would prefer to make custom figures of most of these characters, and I already have these custom figures started. The HSCF versions are a little small and/or don't have the proportions right for the characters.

Awesome set-up man. I too used to own the HQ DX Frieza but I sold it immediately after they announced the SHF version. What’s the name of that figure that’s between the Vegetas? Would it scale with SHF?

Do you mean Malaka? The little scientist guy? I made him from an Irwin Babidi and a Popy/Plex Mini Big Head head Malaka. From my point of view, he would be a bit small for SHF. I think he's a bit narrow-bodied for my collection, but given his lack of importance, I wasn't willing to work hard to make him wider.

Great photos and set up. I always loved that wave of figures with the "attacks" like that kicking Trunks figure with the black tank and the shirtless SS Goku. From what I remember, the plastic on those figures is slightly different. I feel like it's less smooth, more grainy almost. I wonder if there is an actual difference or if I'm just imagining it.

Yeah, that first wave of Striking Z Fighters (and maybe other waves) had a matte texture similar to a terracotta pot (or kind of like a piece of sandpaper). Kind of unusual. I imagine Irwin was experimenting with what texture and paint style they should go with for their products.

I love the paint job your King Cold figure has! You must have picked him out carefully! Speaking of him, how do you get him to stay standing up constantly? Mine always falls on his face.

tabuuforteakugun Yeah, my Kind Cold is fortunately in VERY good condition. His paint hasn't been modified in any way. Regarding him standing, I did the superglue method of tightening his ankle joints. It's the method where you put a drop of liquid super glue on the joint and continuously rotate/wiggle the joint for 5+ minutes until the glue has dried. Continuously moving the joint while the glue dries prevents the joint from being glued together, but enables it to have more friction and a tighter feel to it. It does leave a bit of a white haze to the area generally, so it can be ideal to use a tiny screw driver to pry the joint open a tiny amount and put the drop of glue in the actual joint (instead of just on top of it) and then wiggle it. Having KC fall forward and knock over other figures is not something I can let happen. Some of the Figuarts collectors have developed/discovered other methods for doing this that might not be as risky or potentially destructive as using super glue, but I have not tried any of the methods I have seen mentioned. I've read about them here and on Facebook though, but I can't remember where or what they are.

My King Cold is thankfully also in pretty good condition, I was lucky to get the one I have. The paint is near pristine but I don't like how the lines around his eyes were applied, and I don't want to modify such a trophy figure.
Do you have tips also for tightening the shoulder straps on his cape? I'm afraid to touch the right one on my KC's cape, it looks like it's a heartbeat away from breaking.
Thankfully I still have the base that came with my original Cold (the one I made my custom with). I use that.

Sorry, I don't have any advice. Honestly, if I could sew, I would make a new cape for my King Cold because I don't like the Jakks cape. It'd be a lot cooler to make a navy blue cape with dark red on the inner side and then have it visually look like it is attached with brass buttons on the front of his armor. If I could do that, I'd put the Jakks cape in storage and not display it on the figure.
Perhaps you know someone who can sew who can make a template from the existing cape and sew you a navy blue/red one that you can attach with double stick tape. The elastic bands are kind of silly.

They are. And I agree his cape looks nothing like in the anime.
But I wanted to get him with it because it's part of the original figure. The authenticity, and completeness, of the figure, I mean. I can't sew for crap either, so yeah.
I can just avoid handling the figure as much as possible then. Thanks anyway!
