I encountered this magazine ad from a 1997 issue of Tomart on ebay. And it has the clearest, largest pic I've ever seen of these 1997 prototypes that didn't get produced. The 16 inch figures are misidentified as light and sound 8 inch figures--those 16 inch figures DID get produced. I can't remember... off the top of my head... what the spin battle figures were supposedly called. But it sure is cool seeing such a clear photo of what they looked like after all these decades! This isn't the first time this image has been shown online. It's just... the images floating around similar to it were scanned or photographed in like... 2001... so the image was/is absolutely tiny.

I would kill to find these prototypes. And the 2 energy blasting figures that weren't released. Makes you wonder if they even still exist anymore.

It's still a shame they didn't make them. They would have been the first 5 to 6 inch scale Krillin figures (other than Super Collection) available for people to buy for ~5 years. It was a long wait.

Nice find! Now that he can finally be seen in greater detail, I feel like that Piccolo would've made a lot of 90's collectors very happy. It certainly beats the SBC and AB ones by a long mile.
