Dragon Stars Omega Shenron (labeled Super Yi-Shinron) amzn.to/3pA4eEu
In short, I'd give this figure 10/10 stars for my collection.
Long review:
I received my Omega Shenron from Amazon yesterday. I was surprised by the packaging being a little bit unique on the inside.
The horns that go on his back are on their own piece of recyclable plastic.
They are each numbered on the plastic as well as on the stem of the horn as well.
There are numbers on his back that correspond. The horns are soft and rubbery, and very easy to insert into his back. They are very well engineered.
Can we stop and just look how magnificent he looks? He has very good proportions, and his articulation is remarkable. The balls on his chest are 3D, very well-painted, and look awesome. Mine has a paint chip on the 5-star ball, but I didn't notice till looking at these photos.
I don't buy every single Dragon Stars figure, but this is the first in my collection that has this degree of neck articulation. You can adjust his head up, down, left, right, in, out.
I'm very impressed he can look up like this. And his hips and other leg articulation put older Dragon Stars figures (like Janemba) to shame. I really wish they were all this good.
I'm very impressed with the balls on his torso. I thought they would be flat and basically stickers. They are so much better than I expected! I don't even care about the paint flaw on the 5-star ball. They are so tiny in person, that this photo is about 5 times larger than real life.
The horns on his back look really great. One of mine is a little curved, but I might be able to fix it by putting it in boiling water... though I doubt it, since it isn't rigid plastic. It's extremely soft.
I really think they nailed his proportions and sculpt. They are great.
And the articulation is so much better than many other Dragon Stars figures. To me, he's practically like a Spiderman figure.
Here he is next to DeAgostini DBGT in 3D Omega Shenron from Italy. It's amazing what 20 years of technology can bring to an action figure. I've never owned the Jakks one, but I know that I have always thought the Jakks one had too large of a head and was overall too large for my collection.
Here's what he looks like next to DeAgostini SS4 Goku and Editions Atlas SS4 Vegeta from France (mine is missing the tail). 95% of my DBGT collection is DeAgostini figures, and I think the size of the Dragon Stars Omega Shenron is just fine with these. I am picky about scale, but I think this is a better size than the DeAgostini Omega Shenron, even if he's a little bit large.
Here's what he looks like next to DeAgostini SS4 Goku and SS4 Vegeta (I never finished repainting him 20 years ago)
Him with DeAgostini SS4 Gogeta.
Although I think the DeAgostini Omega Shenron is definitely within reasonable size comparison to SS4 Gogeta, I think the Dragon Stars one is fairly reasonable too. I don't seem to have an SBC SS4 Gogeta anymore, but I think the SBC figures would look basically perfect with this Omega Shenron.
Here's Dragon Stars Wrath Broly next to Dragon Stars Omega Shenron.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with him. His size is good for my collection. He might be a tad small for Dragon Stars SS4 Goku, SS4 Vegeta, and SS4 Gogeta, but Omega Shenron is a bit inconsistent in the anime. We know he should be much larger than Goku, Vegeta, or Gogeta at all times, but it's difficult for me to judge just how large he is truly supposed to be, and what his height would be next to a character like Broly, Nappa, Android 16, etc.
From this, he appears to be approximately 8 heads tall, and it seems like the Dragon Stars figure is that tall.
His articulation is excellent and I highly recommend him. Just like Cooler form 5, he's a must-have for everyone's collection.
In short, I'd give this figure 10/10 stars for my collection.
