The Banpresto Collectible Soft Vinyl Figure (Collectable SofVi Figure) (コレクタブルソフビフィギュアその) figure line was originally given a checklist here by M5, but when M5 deleted his account years ago, it took away his posts. SofVi is short for Soft Vinyl and is also known as Sofubi by collectors. These figures were released in 2004 I believe, and they were UFO catcher figures--meaning they were obtained from crane games (AKA claw machine games). They are approximately 6 inch scale and they scale pretty well with most SH Figuarts figures and the 10-year-older Super Collection series of soft vinyl figures. They have minimal articulation (arms at the shoulder joint and waist articulation typically). Series 1 and 5 are from the Vegeta (Saiyan) Saga, Series 2 and 3 are from Namek/Frieza Saga. Series 4 is from Cell Saga. Although Series 1 is labeled as Vegeta Saga in Japanese, it isn't strictly Vegeta Saga, so I assume that is why they went back with Series 5 and filled in some gaps/mistakes. Most of the figures have some unusual quirks, but Series 1 is very unusual, because of clothing and similar qualities that do not necessarily correlate with Saiyan Saga. Tien and Krillin are wearing their Cell Saga clothing. Goku has his Saiyan Saga logos and boots, yet Cell Saga sash instead of belt. Gohan has leg warmers on his ankles like Tien wears, yet they are painted purple. And Vegeta has flesh colored arms. The remaining series do have a few figures with unusual qualities, but they are less numerous. Series 5 is unusual in that the figures were packaged in boxes instead of bags. Series 1: Tenshinhan (Tien), Krillin, Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan Series 2: Captain Ginyu, Vegeta, Goku, Bulma, and Gohan Series 3: Zarbon, Frieza, Piccolo, Super Saiyan Goku, and Future Trunks Series 4: Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Future Trunks, Android 18, Android 17, and Perfect Cell Series 5: Nappa, Vegeta, two Saibamen, King Kai, and Goku These photos were provided by Dimitri Both.
