I made some videos for you guys who don't understand my written instructions and want to see how it's done. Make sure to watch these, as I've now spent about 3 and a half hours filming, editing, writing, and uploading these darn things. How to remove a figure's head and I point out how you would pop the body open. I made a video, and wrote an article (see page 1) about how to semipermanently readjust body parts on figures so they look cooler and/or stand better. This should help members like Gohan, juanjorman, and others who have asked me these things.

Awesome videos. I never noticed the water burst like that....wow. Guess I've never boiled it for that long, but kinda scared me lol
I suppose it's my turn to film a sculpting lesson.

sparkyss4 is supposed to take a video showing us how he sculpts things too. I think Adrenaline should do one regarding clothing (since I can't figure out how he does such nice pant and shirt work), and sparky should do one regarding armor. Me doing one wouldn't be very beneficial, because I'm not the best at sculpting, I do most of my work after the clay is dry and I use my manicure tool to grind stuff off.

Ok.
You are good considering you work when it's hard and impossible to shape without tools. But you NEED to try shaping before it dries at least one time.

I always shape it beforehand, but I have trouble getting smooth surfaces after I add indentations for details without messing up the details. Plus, I'm just not very good at any sculpting except for making heads.

Bran id like to see u make one showing how u put heads on using Ur hot glue method if any of y'all could make a timelaps video of u making a full custom that would be amazing. Adam if u would have made one for whello I'll bet it would have still been an hour long or more lol

I could do that pretty easily. My customizing "life" has gotten so much easier since I started making my own neck pegs for the most part as well, so I will eventually show how to do that too.

If I filmed the whole thing, it would have been over 100 hours lol
Anyways, I'll do a video for sculpting clothes on my next custom which is made of probably 95% clothing. King Yemma.

Has anyone used wood as a base to make figures? I'm not an artist but, I am a carpenter. The tools I have available are band saw, routers, table saws, widle tools, hand carving tools, and everything else for wood. If you have made wood carvings please message me with any tricks you have learned. My plan is to make them detachable with, stainless rods to use to attach them. The wood would be slightly stronger than white pine. Hopefully, I can overlap them enough for seamless edges.

In sculpture class in college I laminated pieces of plywood together with glue and then used a band saw to cut the shape out and then used a die-grinder (pneumatic dremel) and some sort of band-sander to sand and shape the wood into a mountain looking thing. It was a lot of labor for what I ended up with. I wouldn't highly recommend it unless you are wanting to go for that bare-wood appearance. If you're going to paint it, then don't, because it would be expensive, a waste of materials, and expensive waste of a lot of time that could be better spent sculpting epoxy putty like Apoxie Clay or Apoxie Sculpt. That said, if you ARE wanting the bare wood look... it's a bad ass idea!
