Title says it all. For me, I just found out something new that makes me feel satisfied. I just got to remove my eBay saved search for dbz ps2 games because EisCelsius hooked me up with budokai tenkaichi 3 and as little as I play games, that'll probably last me 5 or 6 years . It felt good removing that search from my eBay even if I barely looked at it anyway haha.

That feeling you get when that package arrives in the post.

Filling a gap in your collection, wether it be minor or big. Maybe being patient enough to score a good deal as well.

Great topic!
For me, the best thing about collecting is the acquisition of a personal holy grail, the rarer the better. It's grand to just stand back and beam and breathe a little easier as you look upon one of your most highly desired wants now perched upon your shelf. Considering I've only been back into DB collecting for roughly five months or so, 2014 has been good to me so far with the addition of MegaHouse King Cold and DeAgostini Eis Shenron now added to my collection - two crown jewels I thought I would likely do without for a long time to come.
One thing I find pleasurable exclusive to collecting Dragon Ball items is this very forum. I've met many great, friendly, honest, fair people here, and it is because of them that I've been able to obtain the rare items I mentioned. Personally, I think it's always better when you collect something that many people are also into. I love checking the forum every day to see people's collections, customs and of course their purchases. I guess the only thing I really don't enjoy about collecting very much is the hunt. Sure, it can be fun searching everywhere under the sun for that elusive, rare item but sometimes it just gets tedious.
When you spend days, weeks and months at a time, checking every day and night for a single item, it can wear you down. That's why it's so awesome to be part of a community of collectors - especially those ready and willing to deal, trade and help each other out. Collecting isn't just about the collectibles for me, but about the people too. Almost all of my favorite pieces in my collection have a personal touch to them - pieces acquired by communicating and dealing with other people, not simply clicking "order" or "Buy it now". For example, it was M5 that sold me my first 9 Freeza Force figures that really got me hooked.
From Caps I got my Soul of Hyper Eis and Nouva Shenrons. From Ashelia, my MegaHouse King Cold. From Branjita, my DeAgostini Eis Shenron. So not only do I value each collectible, but also from where they came from. It's always just a great feeling scoring an awesome piece from a fellow collector. I participate on other collector forums (though no where near as much as I do here) and I must say the sense of camaraderie here outshines the other forums. Sure, there are a couple of stinkers here, but even they are more tolerable than elsewhere. Wandered a little off topic I guess, but what I'm saying is not only three cheers for collecting but for the collectors as well.

I really enjoy completing a set of something that I have. Right now I have the odd general item in mind and quite a few hard to find figures that will close my gaps.
I know sooner or later I'll most likely achieve them but I hate waiting!
The other thing I really enjoy is sharing what I got. I look forward to posting my catches of the day and seeing what you guys got. If you notice I tend to hover around the Japanese American BST and member collections almost daily but the others I'll check once a week or so (except maybe the non dbz catch of the day).

I don't think I ever feel "satisfied" with a new purchase until it's in my cabinet display. There's something about putting a new figure in there, or re-organising a shelf that makes you think "darn that's cool". It also happens every so often when I stop briefly to admire my little collection. I guess you could call that satisfaction.

I'm more for the display feeling too. But lately I buy mostly stuff to customize on it, so I just think: "what a great base to make that work this thing is".
The final objective of all my collections is to create stop motion movies, so until I get finished with collecting and customizing I won't be really satisfied. And I have a clear idea in mind about when my collection will be finished. 99% of what I miss has to be custom made and I don't care much more about new releases.

i collect multiple reasons why i collect:
1. nostalgia purposes- DBZ is my all time fav anime, it has so much memories thats added to it 2. i like displaying them, 3. its my escape- i wont get into details but recently (last 3 years)some bad things happened to me, the person i love the most in this world was taken from me. Whenever i get depressed from thinking about it, the quick fix for me is to look to add to my collection or mess with it. hey its better than doing drugs and binge drinking. sorry to sound gloomy =)
but to answer thread, i just like thought of completing "the picture,"

Articulation junkie/customizer. One of the thrills for me is posing. Getting something loaded with POAs and finding out just how many poses you can get it into is great. That ties into my love of photography (but in all honesty that's near the bottom of the list of my passions), I like taking what are essentially hunks of plastic and making nice images with them. There's also the appreciation for precise paint apps and a sharp masterful sculpt. When it comes to customizing it's nice getting the exact part you need and finishing a modification. I take an equal amount of satisfaction from major projects and simple head/part swaps. Above all else I think the best part of collecting is the catch...finding a good deal/beating out other bidders, making a purchase, facing the inevitable anticipation and finally taking your prize out of the mail and getting it in your collection. I'm back to being bored within five minutes but the initial catch never gets old. I also like removing eBay searches...which may never be fully satisfying as I still have searches saved from 2011.

But as you said we don't play with our figures...we pose them. It's a totally different thing

Maybe just me but does figure collecting, or collecting in general, sometimes get depressing for anyone else? Probably just me

Maybe just me but does figure collecting, or collecting in general, sometimes get depressing for anyone else? Probably just me 1. When I know I don't have the necessary funds to get what I want to get, especially when I really, REALLY want to own it. 2. When there is a character you like that isn't available for you to buy how you want.
