Well, I've never done that and I'd be so scared to try since he's painted. I could have attempted it before he was painted, but I couldn't show him on the site due to Scene Stealers to find out if anyone would pay that much for an unfinished, unpainted, resin copy.

Yeah, $230 would be bull and a steal for the recipient of the custom. Looking at all sides of the spectrum, its not just the effort and time put into it alone that are put into consideration. But the fact that its most likely the first full-scale Dr. Wheelo figurine in existence. The value of something goes beyond the reality of what people are willing to spend for it. That's why we just put stuff like this in the category of "priceless". Its merely a keepsake.
Its like comparing record marks in sports. Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds had more home runs than Babe Ruth at 755 and 762*, while Ruth had 714. But Babe Ruth was the first to pass 700 home runs so their doing it after, for as great as it was, wasn't as meaningful as the first who had done it. Ruth was the first and that record will forever be sealed under his name. The significance thereof cannot be forged.

I agree.
With your last analogy, you're saying that when Branjita and PGV make their own Wheelo, mine will still reign supreme lol

If it happens like the last analogy then their Dr. Wheelo could be better. But you made the first.

I agree. With your last analogy, you're saying that when Branjita and PGV make their own Wheelo, mine will still reign supreme lol I will make one in 2015 ... we'll see

And maybe I'll tackle Hirudegarn Final Form. I know one thing. Even though I've set the bar very high, being the first to make him puts you and Bran at a distinct advantage to make even better ones because now, you have ideas and you know what to base your efforts on. It's always easier to maximize your potential when you're up against competition. Though, this is as tough as competition can get. On the flipside, if neither of you can outdo it, then that will truly say something even greater about this first one.

This makes it even more sad for me that IF Labs never got round to making Wheelo. Such an awesome custom!

Thanks, Gonstead. So this is a cool pic. This Chiaotzu and Gotenks Buu were my 1st and 2nd official customs ever. I made them both in either 2000 or 2001. Next to Wheelo, you see the huge difference that 14 years can make. Past and present. That Gotenks Buu is probably my worst lol I've since made a new one.

Very noticeable difference Wish I had continued customising to be even half as good as you guys are. Just costs so much to get fodder in Australia.

I agree. With your last analogy, you're saying that when Branjita and PGV make their own Wheelo, mine will still reign supreme lol That's only because my work in progress Wheelo looks like crap and I'm not willing to spend 110 hours more on him , so yours will remain the better than mine if I ever finish him! I still want a crappy resin cast of at least the torso so I can start with something I don't have to do so much work on . In my dreams...

I'm planning to make an even bigger hildegarn final form soon by the way You are right about the advantage on wheelo, but it will be a real challenge to do any better than you did.

Hirudegarn is a challenge, more specifically his Final Form, but what makes Wheelo the toughest of any project is that he's a robot. Excluding Androids as robots since they have complete human-like features, Wheelo was the first robot I have customized and their shapes and design are so much more complex and puzzle-like.

Basically, all you need to do is make the same figure he made, but fix the tail. Then you will have the edge on this Dr. Wheelo. The only noticeable mistake is the tail.

I have to agree that when you do robot type stuff, sculpting becomes a challenge. The pod I am still making for Frieza form 1 takes completely different skills and so much more refinement than I am used to. If there's a single bulge or lack of symmetry it's really obvious.
I really need to finish all the junk on my table right now... there really isn't that much work to do to any of them, but finding the time to do the work and having the energy is difficult. It's so much easier to watch TV than sit at the table after sitting at work all day and sculpt/paint/glue.
