Hey, anybody going to A-kon in Dallas? It's June 6-8. I volunteered to work at the Bluefin Tamashii booth, but I'm still reading the website since I've never been to a con before--trying to figure out if I want to do it.
Know anybody who has worked an event for Bluefin? I'm curious what they'd want me to do.

If you got the time I'd say go for it. That other guy in sideshow even got hired I believe. As for cons... Look up vids on youtube lol.

I don't know what I get out of it. I haven't received a reply email except a reply from my first email where I just said I'd volunteer.
I looked through the different panels there, and there are a few concerning mold making, painting, and stuff that might be interesting. Some Team Four Star guys will be there too.

Dallas is really conservative, so the amount of people in costume (without alcohol involved) really surprises me.
I know we have a few DBF members from Dallas. Most of them are lurkers who don't post. Where you guys at?

Ok, so I arrived at 3 to help Bluefin set up. The other volunteer with me was named Allwin, from Indonesia originally, and a nice guy who is a super big fan of Gundam and Kamen Rider. As far as inventory goes, they have tons of it, my gosh, I didn't expect so much. I was happy to be given the job of cleaning the display cases, instead of lifting stuff, as I was dressed up and I'm... good at cleaning . After that was done and we started displaying everything, I got to set up the DBZ stuff, Sailor Moon stuff, and I helped a bit with Mario and others, but there really isn't much to do with that Mario stuff. I didn't mess with Mario, just the accessory packs. Anyway, I was originally going to have Vegeta with his arms crossed and pain face walking away while Krillin pointed and laughed... and... Goku afraid of Frieza'z death beam... but then the battle damaged ground things came out! Score! So I put Krillin in the kakusan-ha pose with the blasts from Vegeta... Frieza in the death beam pose I had already planned... Vegeta getting stuffed into the earth (more humiliating), and the pose I already had Goku in. I wanted some comedy since these displays are always so serious. Speaking of which, the Sailor Moon characters are in Ginyu Force poses with a Kamen Rider filling in for Guldo (that figure really needs more articulation) and a Gundam for Burter. After that I went to the masquerade ball and stayed until about 12:30. I'll be working there tomorrow as well from around 12 to 4, so if you'll be there, come by, say hi, and I'll probably be dressed just about the same as below. Btw, I asked about the Nappa prototype and he's currently in Japan. I was hoping he'd be here.
