The perfect addition, it doesn't interfere with the main page and provides access to the posts...of course...I'm kind of hating that I have to go back nearly five pages to get caught up every time I log in. Nothing that can be done about that of course and it's not like it's a bad thing, this has to be the most activity these boards have seen.

Have you thought about reversing the order that the pages are displayed when going into a thread?
I find myself going into a Thread that has been updated recently and having to always click on the last page to get the newest posts; just an extra loading page that gets in the way. Like instead of going to page one and then clicking the last page, how bout starting on the last page first so the newest posts are available upon entering.
Just a thought...

Unfortunately that isn't something I can change, that's something hard coded into ProBoards to my knowledge.
If you use the Tapatalk (free) or ProBoards app ($3) on your phone, you can set it up to go directly to the newest post in that topic. Extremely useful. I prefer the ProBoards app over Tapatalk.
I don't even particularly recommend you use the internet browser version of DBF (yes, including the "load as desktop" version I worked my butt off for more than 30 hours reprogramming) unless you need to access something you can't access via the ProBoards app or Tapatalk. Those two apps make looking at DBF and posting on it at least 3 times faster than loading the mobile site or 'load as desktop' version of the site. Both internet browser versions are a pain in the ass regarding selecting the page you want.
Try out Tapatalk, and if you like it, but kind of hate how it sorts things, charge the ProBoards app to your phone bill (easiest method and what I did) and get it. I use it every single day.
I only use the internet browser version when I need to vote in a poll... do some administrative stuff... look at pictures that don't load in full size in the ProBoards app... etc. because both internet browser versions on phones are extremely slow and take too many clicks/taps.

On the desktop version of the site (when viewed on phones) I went ahead and just got rid of those three icons that reside in the bottom right corner. I never got rid of them previously because I didn't know what they were for. Now I do, and well, they don't serve much purpose.
Now when you zoom in, that bottom icon bar won't get in your way. The top page number bar still will, but I don't know of any tricks to prevent that.

You can just click on the "new" icon next to the topic name and it will take you to the newest unread post. |
