Kevin Smith has written some great DC comic books with my favorite being his Green Arrow: Quiver where he bought back the character of Oliver Queen. Plus he has written a couple of Batman books for DC too so he does know what he us talking about. Knowing Ben so well I think that if Kevin thinks he can pull off the role then maybe he can.

Can't believe I'm so late to join this thread as Batman is my favourite character ever, but if you want examples of Affleck being a great actor look to Kevin Smith's work, Chasing Amy and especially Dogma are great, great films. I've always defended Affleck as an actor, but even I was kinda shocked when I heard about it. Initially I felt bad about it because I never felt Affleck was one to convey exceptional power, threat or authority in his acting, but the idea is growing on me. He definitely looks the part, albeit he's appearance is a tad bit softer/warmer than Bale's was, definitely more akin to Keaton. I freakin loved the Bale/Nolan films and Bale is easily on of my favourite actors in general so it's gonna be hard to let go of him in that role, but I have to say, if they go a completely different route, to a very cerebral mysterious Batman, Affleck could manage it. We've seen the beastly soldier Batman that Bale portrayed, so turn the tide I'd say. Btw a nice question is who would you guys want to see or had in mind before this? To my utter amazement, a few weeks after I'd made my choice reportedly apparently no one other than Nolan agreed with me, and he cast who I had in mind in his new film Interstellar not long before that. The guy in question? Wes Bentley: (Actually I have my whole preffered JLA casting here: silrian.tumblr.com/However, to me Kevin Conroy will always be my number one Batman:

Before Affleck was casted in the movie I was really hoping Josh Brolin would get the part.

Before Affleck was casted in the movie I was really hoping Josh Brolin would get the part. Personally I disliked him as well as almost all other names going about so I guess Affleck's definitely far from the worst pick for me. I just hope he can find the threat in Batman, especially seeing as his voice is quite high-pitched.

I'm kind of hoping to cover for his voice they give him some kind of voice modifier in the cowl so they can tweak it and make it sound more threatening.

Oh and on the subject of Lex, well, my pick is a near guaranteed not-evah-gonna-happen... Leonardo DiCaprio. I think his charm, fury and exceptionally uncanny talent for multi-layered acting would be fantastic in the role. I'd believe he'd be a threat to Superman and Batman. He has that smartest-man-in-the-world kind of manipulative vibe.

I really want Bryan Cranston for the roll of Lex Luthor. That trailer I posted about earlier really sold me on the idea of him playing Lex.

Unfortunately I don't... I think Lex shouldn't be a gritty guy.
Someone mentioned Jude Law and I'll have you know I'm so flabbergasted by that that it actually started to intrigue me, because it catches you so off guard, which is great for a villain.
Either way, I think Lex should have physical charm to him. It's manipulative, which I like for that part.
Thought of Michael C. Hall too, but many can't detach him from Dexter it seems. Of all people he has the best voice for Lex imo.

Well if not Cranston how about Micheal Rosenbaum, he's already played Lex on Smallville and did a great job! He's my second choice for the part.

I'd love to see Rosenbaum play Lex again but don't think it's going to happen. I'm not sure whether Rosenbaum can cut it as an actor in the film medium. He was easily the best thing about Smallville, that I admit readily. Mark Strong was rumored for it, but I'm tired of seeing him do villains constantly. I haven't heard any name I like as much as either DiCaprio or secondly Michael C. Hall. Also: as far as I'm concerned I've found the guy who could one day take upon him the lofty mantel of the Joker: Bradley Cooper: fantastic actor, known for doing impressions, known to tackle comedy as well as drama and being able to mix them. On top of which his smile is killer! Fits like a glove imo.

Yeah I could tottaly see Cooper taking on the role just based on that picture alone. I mean just look at that creepy smile.
