I know this isn't remotely related to dbz but I know there are some batman fans on here. I was just wondering what's everyone's thoughts were. Because there is kind of an out rage over this all over the Internet.

I actually liked Affleck in Daredevil. Best movie he's done actually. But having him as Batman? Just not buying it. But then anyone following in Christian Bale's footsteps is going to be judged harshly.

I posted about this in the off-topic thread but I'll elaborate further. I'm a huge comic book fan, more specifically DC comics. I go to the store every week and I've read Batman every month for years and he is probably my favorite character. That being said, I'm really happy that Affleck has been cast. I understand where you guys are coming from, Bale completely nailed it and Affleck doesn't give off that same vibe. But I can completely picture him as this new, older, more diplomatic Batman that interacts with the other super heroes. He can go to that dark, brooding place as demonstrated with in scenes in "Argo" and "The Town" among others. I also think he's really going to embody the intelligence of Bruce Wayne which is really important in the context of Superman and other DC super beings because it's what he brings to the table. He also looks a lot like Batman with that square jaw and everything. Keaton and Bale pretty much have the same kind of look and this is someone completely different. Batman is a big concept, guys. This is a totally new interpretation with the basic stuff still intact of course. The guy is talented, give him a chance.

I'm not saying it was a bad choice. Because the movie hasn't been made and I can't give my opinion on something that hasn't happened yet. I just noticed how crazy people were getting over this in the articles I've read today online. So I was wondering what your opinions were on the casting. Also lol z.

Appreciate you starting the discussion! I was just responding to Aussie and Gohan's comparisons to Christian Bale, which are relevant and valid. I come across as very passionate when it comes to super heroes

No problem. Hey ya never know. He might turnout great. I remember people hated the fact Heath ledger was cast as the joker. And he ended up winning an Oscar for that role. So well just have to wait and see.

Ben Affleck was not the best Daredevil. As an actor there is really nothing special to him and to be cast into the role as one of the most legendary superheros in the world, is something I do not agree with. Batman is a badass and Christian Bale played the role perfectly and he set a standard for future Batmans. Honestly when I first saw this I had to check the calendar and make sure it wasn't April 1st. I don't think it was the best decision. But, you never know, he could come out of nowhere and deliver a mind-blowing performance and make us all take back our words. Just my little rant. Ben's got some big shoes to fill and people are expecting a lot. Nothing we could do about it anyway :/

After I unfairly judged Heath Ledger's Joker before the first scene was shot I swore I would never judge an actor before I saw the finished film. Didn't people in the 80's flip out when Micheal Keaton was cast as Batman? He turned out to be the best Batman IMO.

Same thing happened when Keaton was cast in the '89 Batman. Warner Bros. reportedly got over 50,000 letters and death threats.

Christian Bale was a spot on Batman and Affleck is going to have to perform wonderfully for everyone to accept him in this age. But only time will tell.
