Welcome back, @supremekai.
If you're looking to get caught up, the first figures I recommend personally are Evil/Super Buu and Ginyu. Great articulation on both and they are incredibly accurate to the show. Due to Buu being gone for a while now, I'd stick with Ginyu.
Also, is that an Awakening Goku head on 2011's body? Never knew that combination would look so good.

Holy HFIL! Can not believe it's been SO long since I last updated this topic. Unfortunately, this is the only footage I have of the current state of my collection. Captured moments before being packed and stowed away safely in storage - some years back now. Having seen some of the incredible figures Tamashii has been producing in recent times, I'm thinking it's high time I get back on the dragon radar and start collecting again. It would seem this lengthy break in collecting has put me a long, long ways off getting even remotely close to up to date. There's just so many new releases and old out dated figures that need replacing with their version 2 counterparts. In fact - it's such a daunting proposition, I think I'll start by picking up a couple of ikea Detolf display cases and various effects pieces. Hopefully, we'll be seeing a lot more activity around here in the coming months. Cool.! |

Yep! There's a whole lot of head swapping antics going on. Awakening Goku also has the corresponding SDCC 2011 Super Saiyan Goku's hairpiece, which really increases his shelf presence thanks to the dramatic shading effect and improved paint application. There's also a Super Vegeta faceplate jammed onto an original first release Super Saiyan Vegeta that I feel is much more representative of his Android saga look - due to its far larger head sculpt perfectly complimenting the leaner build of the old figure. I've also popped the long hair base form head included with Super Trunks on top of the original first release Trunks, helping to bring the somewhat outdated figure up to snuff with more recent releases. I would really love to get my hands on a Xenoverse time patroller Trunks, on the cheap, to help update the look of my Super Saiyan Trunks, as well.

Nice! My first ever genuine Tamashii effect pieces arrived earlier this morning; a Yellow Aura and a Beige Crater. I was able to source them both locally on the cheap - as they were sold together loose as a set. And I've got to say, I really wasn't expecting the Aura to have an odd shimmering glitter paint effect. That doesn't exactly translate in any of the photos or video reviews I've seen. Not terrible, just unexpected and it does help catch the light - adding a interesting element of depth about it. The crater is also a lot bigger than I had expected, which is definitely a plus. Easily large enough to accommodate multiple figures or at least one large and one smaller figure - such as a Goku and Frieza or a Cell and Teen Gohan. Sadly, I am currently unable to post and pictures on my phone. Guess I'll have to take a trip to Ikea to pick up a Detolf or two this weekend! Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted |

Massive day for the collection today with several new additions, all arriving at once! And what better way of celebrating my long-awaited return to collecting the Figuarts line, than checking off one of my all-time most wanted figures. The notorious Fat Bastard! Whom, I've been meaning to add to the collection for what feels forever now. On any other day, I might have given the chocolates to Bardock. Cannot express in words how impressed I am with the overall fit and finish seen on more recent releases. Light-years beyond what I am used to seeing, considering the last figure I purchased was Awakening Goku. These newer Gokus are pretty neat, as well. Chuffed to bits gents!

So. Basically, I've been conceptualizing how to best display my collection and have come to the conclusion that I have too much crap to cram into a single Detolf cabinet! Let me know if anyone has some minor suggestions to help enhance the display, whether it be recommendations for companion figures, various effects and or set pieces.
