As a new figure collector, I honestly have no clue how to clean my figures. I only wipe them with a dry cloth every week or so, but I think thats not enough. So other than just dusting them off, how do you guys maintain your figures? I've read that water can be good sometimes and at other times it fades the paint. How often do you clean them? Any help would be great. Thanks.

From what I've seen on here I'd suggest a minimal soap/water mix. Less is more, and never use any chemicals (unless you know what you're doing).

And avoid wet wipes like the plague

vacuum without an attachment on the hose, microfiber towel, but always soap and water when I first buy them.

That's great advice guys. Thank you so much. I have another question though with regards to using soap. Sorry if it is stupid but how do you do it? Do you like soap the cloth and then use another one with water or do you just put the figures under the tap? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. Thanks a lot

I normally just lay they in the kitchen sink and spray them with hot water, then put some dawn dish soap in my hands, rub the figures, then rinse them off, front and back. If they have electronics in them I don't do that. I wipe them with a damp paper towel with no soap. I typically rinse their hair if it is spiky and hard to wipe.

Bran suggested in another topic to use an old toothbrush for scrubbing figures. That, along with some dish soap, worked great for me with some dirty figures that had tight spots which were hard to reach with a paper towel. I've also noticed that keeping my figures on a shelf in my closet has prevented dust from building up since that's not a heavily traveled area. I'd imagine a detolf would work just as well for preventing dust

If I was wanting to clean my scultures ox king, I would only use soap and water if I bought him used or something was spilled on him. So Vacuum only, but carefully, because the small pieces will come right off.

One of the worst parts of being a Dragon Ball collector is cleaning the spiky hair. The dirt and dust gets right down in there. Using a static cling duster works for me.

How do they get dusty in a Detolf? Is it only the Hot Toys figures or everything because I was going to get a Detolf to specifically stop dust. Kinda let down if dust can still get into a Detolf case.
